Position Title: Hospital Liaison (Doctors Assistant; DA)

Department: Emergency and Critical care

Position Reports to: Support Staff Manager

Primary Job Duties:

The Hospital Liaison (HL) is a customer service focused position. The primary goal of the HL is to ensure that patients and clients have a streamlined and efficient experience within the hospital. The HL works directly with the veterinarians and provides consistency for the team by becoming familiar with the administrative needs for each veterinarian and their department.

Job Duties:

  • Entering charges for doctors. Maintain a high standard of accuracy for inputting charges and updating invoices as needed.
  • Create and review estimates with clients, collect deposits for clients moving forward with treatment plans and hospitalization.
  • Provide support to the doctors by assisting with administrative tasks including but not limited to: assisting with medical records and inputting patient information, tracking lab work results, contacting referring veterinarians for records, and organizing communication between referral veterinarians and Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency Referral.
  • Provide financial updates to owners and collect additional deposits when treatment plans change, or hospitalization time increases.
  • Provide general medical updates to clients when appropriate.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of work experience as a veterinary professional ideally in an emergency/specialty hospital environment
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent written, verbal and computer skills
  • Ability to communicate and explain complicated medical concepts in a clear and professional manner to clients, colleagues and doctors.
  • Affection for animals and concern for their welfare
  • Experience in caring for and handling animals in a safe, effective, and humane manner.
  • Ability and interest in accommodating varied work assignments and schedules.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional, pleasant, respectful and courteous manner at all times.
  • Maturity, good judgment, and professional personal appearance
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds for short distances and to humanely restrain an animal when necessary.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR (Essential Qualifications):

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

· Knowledge of veterinary hospital practices and procedures

· Knowledge of medical terminology, equipment, and anesthesia procedures, as well as generic and brand names, common uses, and side effects of drugs utilized in a veterinary practice.

· Intermediate proficiency with a variety of computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite, and Practice Management software (PIMS)

· Intermediate written, verbal, and active listening communication skills with a customer-oriented approach

· Strong analytical, critical thinking, judgement, and problem-solving skills

· Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy

· Strong organizational and time management skills including managing multiple priorities

· Ability to handle and maintain sensitive and confidential information with discretion

· Work independently with minimal supervision

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities are required to do this job including close vision. This position requires walking and/or standing for long periods of time, bending, reaching, grasping, and repetitive motions. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted, 75 lbs. with assistance. The working environment may be stressful with aggressive, frightened, abused or injured pets that may bite or scratch. Must be able to work flexible hours including some holidays, evenings and weekends.

Pay: From $23.00 per hour
