IC ENGINEERING is Hiring an Instrument Technician Near San Jose, CA

The I&E Technician installs, commissions, troubleshoots and repairs research lab instrumentation and control systems.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Performs basic preventive maintenance and repairs on Instrumentation equipment including, but not limited to pressure transmitters, magnetic flow meters, hazardous gas sensors, etc.
  • Assesses and completes performance checks on equipment such as level controllers, pressure transmitters etc. and records and validates instrument performance.
  • Build instrumentation and electrical panels.
  • Measure, cut, bend and install conduit, fittings and tubing as needed to install or repair equipment. Install cable tray.
  • Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wire, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures.
  • Disconnects, connects and rewires electrical wiring
  • Troubleshoots and maintains computer control systems such as PLC and DCS

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-year technical associates degree or 3 years of relevant work experience preferred.
  • ISA CCST certification preferred but not required.
  • Possesses and demonstrates working knowledge of the methods and procedures of the Instrumentation and Electrical trades and of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of these fields. Instrumentation knowledge is most important.
  • Must always view safety as a value and be willing to comply with company policies and guidelines.
  • Basic understanding of instrumentation, controls, control systems, safety systems and electrical equipment.
  • Must be able to read and decipher electrical and control drawings.
  • Must be able to get online with PLC and use as a troubleshooting tool.
  • Must understand the principles of flow, level, temperature and pressure measurement.
  • Basic computer skills for ordering materials, communication, entering equipment history, and email.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team, willing to be mentored and trained, and be trustworthy and dependable.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work overtime and on-call as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
