Job description

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Sales Associate to join MTC Industries, a fast-growing raw ingredients supplier in the Nutraceutical / Pharmaceutical / Food and Pet Food industry. Dual reporting to the VP of Sales and General Manager, this position will lead all aspects of sales across multiple categories and product tiers. This person will help maintain existing account, bring in their own accounts as well as develop new relationships with new customers. The Sales Manager is a key role in the organization and will contribute highly to the company’s ongoing success and growth.

The ideal candidate is sharp, a quick learner, and takes ownership of its products and client relationships. They must be highly detailed-oriented and demonstrate an ability to adapt and respond in a highly dynamic and competitive environment. They must demonstrate clear and effective communication, while maintaining discretion and professionalism. They must have a great personality which includes friendliness, enthusiasm, empathy, and a positive attitude. Someone who is approachable, confident, and genuine helps establish trust, fostering better connections with potential clients. This position will work collaboratively across the entire organization and be the main point of contact for its products and clients’ relationship.

Responsibilities:

  • Submits a Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly Sales/BD Plan & Report. Report must be based on sales standard format and sales projections including new customer development status, quota, sample & Documents requests, and sample follow up and feedback on all sales related activities on the company designed standard spread sheet. Responsible for all new customer credit checks, obtaining credit references, and on time customer receivables as well.
  • Handles sales and business development of all MTC raw materials. Responsible for all the stock items sales and moving monthly inventory items based on spot purchasing, contract purchase orders, blanket contract releases and promote new projects development in the Domestic and International Markets. Maintains a good relationship with all the targeted customers.
  • Builds up company’s professional image and protects company’s reputation on all occasions.
  • Delivers prompt responses for all sales and customer inquiries every day.
  • Works as a sales team leader and overall team player.
  • Keep informed VP of Sales, General Manager, and CEO on all sales related emails, new project developing plans and reports of all the sales related activities, all key projects and initiatives.
  • Reports to the office daily. Calls, emails or “wechat” with VP of Sales, General Manager and CEO for individual and group meetings when out of the office.
  • Abides by the Company Sales Policy:
  • Customized product – A purchase order must be received and confirmed as “take or pay” with defined shipping dates (per quarter). Product cannot be returned, or the order cancelled unless due to a, confirmed by MTC, quality issue. This requires an independent third-party test analysis by the Customer to warrant review by MTC. The Salesperson is responsible to sell any returned product that is not a quality issue.
  • Blanket purchase orders must have defined pickup dates (per quarter minimum/ monthly when possible) and cannot be cancelled. Again, the “take or pay” confirmation applies. Blanket orders will have a defined period, six months to one year in length. Blanket purchase orders will be used to help plan inventory control.
  • Credit limits will be established for every customer. The Salesperson must help make certain the customer does not exceed the credit limit or work with Finance to establish a higher credit rating based on payment history and re-evaluation of the credit references.
  • Review every customer’s credit limit once a year, and if the payment is satisfactory or need to be checked twice a year.
  • Follow up with past due invoices and work with accounting assistant to get the payment on time
  • Enter all the Pos on SAP on time with correct information relating to product name, quantity, unit cost, shipping address, payment term and who is responsible for trucking fees
  • Understand each customer's shipping requirement, prepare complete shipping document such as Invoice, packing list, C of A, Bill of lading and mark clearly who is responsible for the trucking cost correctly
  • All other duties, as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

  • High School Diploma/ BS
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within the nutraceutical/pharmaceutical industry
  • Have knowledge and experience dealing with all types of raw materials
  • Well established and be able to bring in 3-4 million in gross sales annually to start.
  • Ability to work as part of a team to drive sales.
  • Experience in selling raw ingredients in Food, Beverages, Cosmetic, or Pet Food Industry is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Office; especially Excel
  • Experience with SAP a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good organization skills
  • Good communication skills.

Physical Demands:

  • Required to reach with arms and use hands and fingers to handle
  • Required to stoop, kneel, crouch, stand, bend, sit, talk, and hear
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 5 pounds with the possibility to 10 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • Potential to move between office and warehouse areas to complete job functions.

Compliance with New York State Human Rights Pay Transparency Law, the annual base salary range for this position is $70K to 80K. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. MTC considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
