Wisconsin Hospital Association is Hiring a Data Visualization Analyst Near Fitchburg, WI

This position’s primary responsibility is to support new and existing business intelligence/analytics/visualization solutions and resolve issues with reports and data as identified by WHA, WHAIC, and its’ customers. This position will also be responsible for developing and maintaining dashboards and supporting end users, as needed to forward the goals of the WHA Information Center (WHAIC).

This position will primarily work with WHAIC’s business intelligence tool, Tableau, to create state-of-the-art analytical packages, reporting, and analysis for use by WHAIC and its customers (both internal and external). This position is responsible for partnering with WHAIC staff and interacting with customers to identify, define, and implement analytical packages/solutions to meet our customer’s business needs for data, analytics, and information. Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI and health care experience is preferred.

This position demands excellent group, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, a collaborative and positive attitude, initiative, and a willingness to take on other initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

- Proficiency in Tableau is required. This position requires the ability to build visualization solutions from the ground up that are visually informative, scalable, responsive, and efficient.

-Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI and Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques preferred.

- Experience in health care industry preferred.

- Support new and existing business intelligence/analytics/visualization solutions.

- Address issues with reports and data as identified by WHAIC customers.

- Develop and maintain dashboards primarily using Tableau.

-Stay current with advances in data visualization techniques.

- Collaborate with WHAIC staff and engage with customers to implement analytical solutions.

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

- Positive attitude, initiative, and willingness to take on additional responsibilities.

- Proficient use of SQL to develop and improve data extracts as required by the application.

- Serves as a liaison with customers and other stakeholders (internal and external) to:

- Learn their workflow and business drivers and understand how WHAIC’s products, data, and services would influence work processes and benefit the customer.

- Represent and advance the customer’s interests, needs and work processes to influence WHAIC’s planning, development, and implementation processes.

- Identify and address training needs.

- Communicate and interact with a variety of internal and external personalities, cultivating professional working relationships.

- Exhibit strong customer service skills and project management skills. Accurately estimates time needed to complete each project and keeps management informed of progress.

- Adheres to HIPAA, NIST 800-53 and all other applicable state and federal laws.

- Serves as an advocate for WHAIC and WHAIC’s products and services.

- Maintains current knowledge of WHAIC and WHAIC’s products and services.

-Performs other duties as assigned.

Internal / External Contacts

This position has daily internal contacts with the WHAIC staff, WHA staff, and contract staff.

This position may have daily external contacts with members of the WHAIC Board, Board committees and ad hoc work groups, state and federal government personnel, WHAIC customers, potential WHAIC customers, and other WHAIC stakeholders, in person and through written and oral communications.

Knowledge & Experience

This position requires:

- Experience with Tableau (or other business intelligence/analytics/visualization tools) and/or the proven ability to learn new data analysis tools quickly.

- Knowledge of collecting, analyzing, and using data to help customers make informed business decisions.

- Knowledge of and experience of writing SQL queries to combine data across multiple tables.

- Ability to understand work process and solutions, including documenting and analyzing those processes for gaps and opportunities.

- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent professional experience

- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Knowledge & Experience Preferred:

- Working knowledge of SQL Server and Microsoft Office

- Health care experience preferred.

- Knowledge of statistical tools and techniques helpful.

- Experience developing training materials and delivering training.

Scope & Challenges

The Data Visualization Analyst must be confident, a self-starter, detail-oriented and efficient to handle multiple priorities. In addition, they will need to be innovative to anticipate customer needs. The position may involve a large volume and variety of work, some of which may need to be completed on short notice.

Working Conditions

- This position works in a business environment.

- The ability to lift 20 – 50 lbs.

- The ability to sit for periods of 1 –2 hours.

- The ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
