We do repairs for school owned instruments, customer owned instruments and our own extensive rental fleet. Our repair work includes cracks, seams, bridgework, peg adjustments and most importantly bow rehairing.
Our Waukesha location houses our String Shoppe, a large showroom, and an active repair shop with a steady flow of dedicated string repair work, along with the resources and support you need for a fun, rewarding career.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : ORCHESTRAL STRING REPAIR TECHNICIAN
- Diagnoses repair needs on violin family instruments and carries out necessary repairs
- Rehair and repairs of bows
- Cleans, and adjusts orchestral string instruments for the purpose of ensuring optimum playability and appearance.
- Communicates with sales staff and customers when necessary to estimate or complete a repairs
- Uses a computer to record and print completed repair estimates and records
- Orders equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items to complete the necessary repairs
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS : ORCHESTRAL STRING REPAIR TECHNICIAN
- Certification in musical instrument repair obtained through a college / technical school, or apprenticeship and work experience sufficient to obtain similar knowledge
- Aspects related to structural repair
- Aspects related to instrument setup
- Bow rehair and repair experience
- Fingerboard dressing
- Familiarity with various glues and their uses
- Finish repair and touchup
- Skill in using tools and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of orchestral string instruments
- Follow common shop safety practices
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills
- Must pass a pre-employment proficiency bench test
