Position: Westside Kids Coordinator

Hours: 24 hrs./week (Sunday – Wednesday)

Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

In partnership with the Westside Kids Director, the Kids Coordinator aids in carrying forward the vision and strategy for Westside Kids ministry by cultivating relationships with children and families and assisting in the development of community within the Westside Kids department.

While this position description outlines our vision for the role, we are sensitive to the the need for flexibility and seeking an individual that understand the needs of the role may shift as ministry needs grow and expand. While our ultimate desire is for a permanent team member with longevity in this role, we are open to creative solutions for temp to permanent hire for the right candidate and logistical framework.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications:

• 2 years previous experience working with children of varying ages from birth through 4th grade youth in a mentor or teaching capacity
• 2 years previous experience organizing and executing events, services and/or camps
• Previous experience communicating with parents/guardians 
• Evidence of a passion and heart for serving children and youth 

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience working in or volunteering in a children or youth program within a church environment
• Professional or educational background in counseling, children's behavioral therapy and/or mental health

RESPONSIBILITIES & ASSOCIATED TASKS:

Event & Curriculum Planning & Coordination - 50%

• Support the Kids Director in executing curriculum and events/gatherings for kids throughout the year
  • Weekly Sunday classroom curriculum prep.
  • Summer Kids Camp
  • Easter & Christmas Eve preparation/execution
  • Baby Dedication coordination

Volunteer Coordination - 20%

• Partner with Kids Director to identify available opportunities and needs for volunteers within children's ministry
• Volunteer processing in Planning Center
• Gather information about volunteer skill sets, availability, and recruit/match volunteers with appropriate opportunities
• Build long-term relationships with volunteers to ensure consistent communication

Administrative – 20%

• Participate in Staff Connect, 1st Wednesday Prayer & other staff functions as requested
• Participate in all Kids Team meetings, team retreats and conferences
• Read, listen, watch, research, resource and equip yourself to lead and serve others well
• Maintain up-to-date calendar and general communication with staff via phone and email as needed
• Social Media support

Team Participation – 10%

• Partner with Connections Director, Kids Director, and Westside staff to create a thriving, holistic kids' ministry
• “All-Hands” staff events throughout the year as needed

Immediate Supervisor: Westside Kids Director

Supervisory responsibilities for: None
