The Brunswick Police Department is a progressive agency that promotes a Community Policing philosophy. To fulfill our current mission statement, we believe in up-to-date training and offer other educational opportunities to our officers to assist them in dealing with today’s law enforcement needs.
Brunswick Police Department Officers have the ability to receive training to join one of the specialized units such as Special Response Team, Collision Reconstruction, Mountain Bike, Honor Guard, Marine Patrol, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, and K-9.
Our excellent benefit package includes competitive pay and offers a lateral entry option commensurate with experience. The Department highly considers prior experience when determining the starting pay rate. Town benefits include options for health, dental, vision, and/or life insurances; short-term disability, retirement plan choices, educational reimbursement, paid vacations, sick time and paid holidays/floaters. Additional benefits include educational assistance/incentive, physical fitness bonus ($350 to $1,445 per year), paid gym memberships (up to $350 per year), yearly clothing allowance and a 20-year retirement option.
Applicants must be able to successfully pass a physical agility test as set by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy (MCJA). A passing score of 37 is required on the Maine Criminal Justice Academy (MCJA) ALERT test. Current fulltime, certified police officer applicants’ selection process may be expedited.
