United Friends Group Homes is Hiring a Resident Support Specialist Near King, WA

Overview:

The Resident Support Specialist assists operational management of a range of special projects and technical operations impacting resident-related duties including any or all the following: human resources, resident program data/review, general administration of the organization and resident care practices. This position reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the leadership team of three group homes providing support for the overall goals and objectives of the agency; the group homes are all located within King County. The Resident Support Specialist is a strategic thinker who creates and implements systems that ensure smooth operations, best practices in resident care and supports a sound fiscal foundation.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Facilities

  • Assists to achieve effective administrative and physical maintenance of all three properties, including the primary office and the three group homes
  • Assists to achieve proper safety processes are maintained and updated regularly.

Human Resources

  • Maintain timelines for staff files (re: renewal of certificates, verification of continuing education hours); assists in scheduling appropriate classes
  • Manage benefits administration.
  • Back-up for all ADP verification, including payroll

Accounting

· Supports Finance Director to achieve accounting work and special projects as needed 5-10 hours a month.

Technical Support

· Possesses aptitude for or willingness to learn about technology including troubleshooting existing programs and equipment to maintain productivity at the organization.

Administrative

  • Filing, sorting, faxing, copying in accordance with normal work performed to achieve the goals of the organization.
  • HUD paperwork filing as directed by the Executive Director.

Agency Marketing and Communications

  • Assists in updating of website and approved social media sites; assists in the creation of the agency newsletter and communications related to special events guided by the Executive Director.

Resident Related

  • The Resident Support Specialist will work 2 shifts/week as a DSP - Direct Support Professional (see attached DSP Job Description). These shifts will rotate between all three houses so that each resident’s abilities, behaviors, and programs are well-known.
  • Assists each home’s Program Director in compiling program data and assessing the long-term viability for each habilitation program; will recommend specific changes when appropriate.
  • Six-Month Review of resident Negotiated Service Agreement, Releases, and Medication Administration Record (MAR). To maintain six-month follow-up, a single resident’s information will be reviewed weekly.
  • Create, coordinate and participate in at least one group outing per month. These are designed to build rapport with residents and staff. Group Outings should include at least three residents, two DSP’s and the Resident Support Specialist. These outings are encouraged to take place during the Resident Support Specialist’s scheduled DSP shifts.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of intellectual disabilities. Knowledge of and appreciation for the special concerns and problems of those with developmental disabilities and their families and caregivers. If no previous experience, this requirement will be met with the training necessary to fill the DSP shifts
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified within 14 days of hire. Must be registered/certified NA-R, HCA or NA-C or obtain within 120 days of hire.
  • Familiarity with resources and laws impacting individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Experience in facilities management, preferred.
  • Knowledge of practices relating to program administration.
  • Knowledge of funding resources and strategies. Preferred experience writing, receiving, and managing grant funding.
  • High level of proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, including Excel

· Strong team orientation, ability to provide and accept feedback, and ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.

· Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and ability to work autonomously.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $29.00 - $30.00 per hour
