United Jewish Appeal-Fed of Jewish is Hiring a Program Assistant, LEAD Near New York, NY

Seeking a motivated and proactive team member to support the Leadership Engagement Department (LEAD) and UJA’s Scholar in Residence. This individual will be a partner in assisting a team of three with various aspects of LEAD’s portfolio, which is focused on lay leadership development and donor engagement, including three cohort programs for young professionals. The position affords the unique opportunity to work cross-organizationally and collaboratively and provides a high-level perspective on the leadership engagement and lay talent management function at the largest local non-profit. The position also supports UJA’s rabbinic Scholar in Residence with study groups and speaking engagements.

Overview of Responsibilities for LEAD:

  • Supports the Leadership Labs, Observership and Shapiro Fellow programs for young professionals, including coordination and planning for about 12-15 events per fiscal year as well as other administrative particulars associated with the programs.
  • Assist LEAD team with planning and execution of upcoming programs and meetings, i.e. help create invite, manage RSVPs, room/ event space set up and tear down, prep material, Zoom management, etc.
  • Assist with various special projects as assigned with the opportunity to grow and take on more in the department based on interest, i.e. updating LEAD’s suite of tools and collateral material, including an online hub.
  • Perform general administrative duties such as ordering supplies, paying invoices, processing expense reports, requesting materials and arranging food and room requests, managing calendars, documents, marketing material, and donor and committee lists.

Overview of Responsibilities for Scholar in Residence:

  • Supports the Scholar in Residence with the management of multiple study groups for UJA donors and UJA speaking engagements.
  • Manages calendar, scheduling, and coordination for all Jewish learning groups led by the Scholar in Residence.
  • Coordinates speaker and other events as well as assists with special projects for the Scholar in Residence as needed.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 1 years of professional experience or internship.
  • A forward thinking, team-player, who can multi-task, think creatively, and take initiative.
  • Strong written, oral communication and inter-personal skills as well as attention to detail are integral to the role.
  • Knowledge of the following applications: Excel, Smartsheets, Canva, Zoom, and other online collaboration platforms.

Salary Information:

The salary for this role is $45,000-$48,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications.
