United Community Options of Miami is Hiring a Director of Nursing Near Miami, FL

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

1) Provides feedback to the Associate Director regarding program development, implantation or unusual circumstances and needs.
2) Coordinates/provides training to staff regarding consumer/adult care.
3) Coordinates the provision of medical services to consumers at Golden Glades in cooperation with primary care physician.
4) Oversees communication and sharing of information to staff at all levels.
5) Supervises therapists and monitor services.
6) Provides updates re: activity/treatment schedules are followed.
7) Interacts with consumers in an appropriate and positive manner, fostering independence.
8) Implement and/or support behavioral interventions as recommended.
9) Ensures teacher meets DCP contract requirements and attends Support Plans and
IEP.

SUPERVISION OF MEDICAL SERVICES:
1) Monitors documentation and administration of medications to ensure compliance with state regulations.
2) Monitors timely, complete and accurate records (including daily notes, monthly progress notes and yearly evaluations, etc.)
3) Supervises medical care given by Nursing Staff & Respiratory Staff and ensures consistency among shifts.
4) Assists with care (medical/personal) if required.
5) Ability to provide supervision and guidance to staff in total care of adults/consumers.
6) Tracks total consumer needs, particularly medical services.
7) Makes sure all paperwork is written and completed in an accurate and timely fashion.
8) Maintains a working relationship with the physicians.
9) Monitors and follows up on doctor's orders/recommendations.
10) Weekly contact with Medical Director/Pulmonologist.
11) Make periodic progress and annual reports to DCF/parents/Guardians (as needed).
12) Facilitate coordination of services (medical, nursing, educational, therapy) via interdisciplinary meetings.
13) Assist in recruiting staff and coordinating applicant interviews and hiring decisions.
14) Directly supervises Physicians, Teacher, Therapy Supervisors and Executive
Assistant.
15) Evaluate work performance of staff in conjunction with direct supervisor and to meet personnel file requirements.
16) Monitor staff activities and work schedules.
17) Maintain communication with physicians, hospitals, school program, DCF, parents, support coordinators, Associate Director, etc.
18) Assist with the preparation of the budget, updating of budget, completion of budget variances and payroll process.
19) Monitor and insure compliance required for licensure.
20) Directly handles all monitoring, abuse investigation and oversees documentation for
Medical audits in conjunction with the Associate Director.
21) Insures Disaster Preparedness Plan is implemented and staff trained.

22) Monitors the accuracy of petty cash record keeping including client trust fund spending.
23) Responsible for document requirements specific to resident’s court orders.
24) All other related duties as assigned in relation to Golden Glades

11. Creates and develops opportunities for success and recognizes that success through EOM, EOQ and EOY.
12. Written communication is clear, well written and logical.
13. Keep people informed using various effective means of communication.
14. Plans and leads effective meetings on a consistent basis.
15. Uses effective problem-solving techniques.
16. Addresses personnel related problems calmly and by not taking things personally.
17. Utilizes progressive disciplinary action.
18. Maintains effective supervisor's notes, materials & insures staff is informed on changes within; via monthly meetings.
19. Maintains annual vacation calendar & monitors usage of vacation.
20. Ensure Performance Evaluations are completed utilizing performance Logs, Merit &
Counseling Statements, comparison to previous evaluations, soliciting input from peers
& individuals served, & from supervisor’s rating sheet.
21. Insures performance evaluations are thorough, complete and that the review is effective.
22. Insures applicant interviewing is effective thorough & legal by observing staff & acting as a role model when director isn’t available.
23. Updates job descriptions as job duties and responsibilities change for staff.
24. Follows Team Pledge.

QUALIFICATIONS:(Education/Experience/Licenses/Personal Characteristics)

1. Registered Nurse Licensure in the State of Florida

2. Five (5) years minimum experience in pediatrics

3. CPR certification

4. Strong medical community resources preferred

5. Medical/surgical background preferred

6. Ability to bend at the knees and comfortably lift a child that weighs up to 40 lbs.

7. Can comfortably bend up and down from low chairs approximately 75% of an eight hour day.

8. Acceptable MVR, valid “E” driver’s license and reliable transportation with required insurance.

9. Meets DCF and Dade County Public School background requirements
