Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: The mission of CCAD is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components.

Duties

Troubleshooting and repair of high and low electrical voltage systems for industrial and related equipment from millivolts up to 480 volts.

Install, maintain, and repair electric wiring systems, related switches, distribution panels and outlet boxes, and a wide variety of electrical fixtures, tools and appliances.

Inspect, clean, repair, test and adjust equipment.

Test circuits and equipment by using voltmeter, ampmeter, wattmeter, megger, thermal imager, and ohmmeter.

Work with voltage ranging from millivolts to 480 volts related to plant equipment, building maintenance.

Work with aircraft electrical circuitry relating to transmissions, engine test cells, and flow benches.

Requirements

Conditions of Employment

Appointment may be subject to a Tier 1-Non-Sensitive/Low Risk suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Must possess a valid state driver's license.

Must obtain and maintain a valid government driver's license.

This position requires a pre-appointment physical examination and meet established hearing and vision tests.

This position requires you to wear a respirator.

Position is subject to call out and after hour's duty for equipment failures or required emergency repairs and storm or disaster recovery.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) : Ability to do the work of a(n) Electrician ~ without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common Electrician tasks which include troubleshooting and repair of high and low electrical voltage systems for industrial and related equipment from millivolts up to 480 volts. Work on electrical systems and have replaced various electrical components in the installation and relocation of industrial equipment. Check voltage and amperages using voltmeters, amperage meters, and meggers. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Efforts: Requires frequent walking, kneeling, climbing, bending, and working in strained and cramped positions, lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment.

Working Conditions: Works indoors and outside shops and buildings. Subject to severe weather conditions and elements in emergency situations. Subject to chemical and steam burns. Subject to heat prostration from ovens, steam equipment, and heat-treating equipment. Danger of falling from scaffold, ladders, catwalks, cranes, buckets, and roofs of heights in excess of 30 feet. Subject to dust, chemical, gas and various fumes, electrical shock, and/or burns. Work requires use of personal protective equipment such as, but not limited to, half/full face respirators, air pack, dusk masks, safety glasses, and shoes appropriate to the work are and work performed. Discomfort may be experienced while wearing protective equipment.
