ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Staff Development FUNCTION

• Plan an organized system of training to assist in maintaining overall staff competency to maintain individualized safe, quality of care.
• Plans and implements in-service programs for the development and improvement of the skills of facility personnel using a variety of teaching methods, presentations, materials, and resources to meet the learner’s need.
• Continually assess and evaluates staff learning throughout the orientation process for modification in various teaching methods.
• Attends scheduled corporate staff development and infection control meetings.
• Being a part of the administrative nursing team and participating in the on call process.
• Plans and implements nurse aide training program in accordance with state and federal requirements.

Qualifications

• The candidate must hold a current registered nurse license or a licensed practical nurse to practice in the state of Louisiana.
• The candidate must be knowledgeable of infection control practices. Previous specialized education/training in infection control is required. Certification as an infection control prevention is a preferred.
• A minimum of two years long term care or post-acute care experience and at least one year of experience in the acute care setting is preferred. (infection control)
• The candidate must be proficient in Word and Excel programs

The candidate must possess the following skills:

• Ability to manage, plan and oversee the utilization of resources and the design of work processes.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

• Has not been excluded from participating in Medicare and Medicaid programs.
• Maintains eligibility to participate in Medicare and Medicaid programs throughout employment.
• Capable of providing emergency care as needed for any resident in the facility.
• Maintains a neat, well-groomed appearance at all times. Keeps personal appearance appropriate for resident care.
• Ability and willingness to function appropriately in a disaster or evacuation of the facility.
