We are seeking a skilled and creative Chef to lead our deli kitchen operations. As a Deli Chef, you will be responsible for crafting delicious and visually appealing dishes, sandwiches, salads, and other deli offerings. Your role will involve overseeing food preparation, ensuring quality and consistency in every dish, and managing kitchen staff to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
Responsibilities:
1. Menu Development: Develop and update the deli menu with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients, innovative flavor combinations, and customer preferences.
2. Food Preparation: Prepare and cook a variety of deli items including sandwiches, salads, soups, and sides according to recipes and standards.
3. Quality Control: Ensure that all dishes leaving the kitchen meet quality standards in taste, presentation, and portion size.
4. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, place orders as needed, and ensure proper storage and rotation of stock to minimize waste.
5. Kitchen Management: Supervise kitchen staff including cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers, assigning tasks, and ensuring efficient workflow.
6. Sanitation and Safety: Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations, and enforce kitchen safety procedures.
7. Customer Service: Interact with customers to take orders, answer questions, and accommodate special requests, providing friendly and attentive service.
8. Training and Development: Train new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques, safety procedures, and company standards, and provide ongoing coaching to improve performance.
9. Collaboration: Work closely with management and other departments to coordinate deli operations, promote special events or promotions, and contribute to the overall success of the business.
Qualifications:
1. Culinary Experience: Proven experience working as a chef or cook in a deli, restaurant, or similar food service establishment.
2. Culinary Skills: Strong culinary skills with a passion for creating delicious and visually appealing dishes using fresh, high-quality ingredients.
3. Leadership Abilities: Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team in a fast-paced environment.
4. Organization: Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
5. Customer Focus: Customer-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional service and satisfaction.
6. Adaptability: Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed and adapt to changing business needs.
7. Food Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food handling, sanitation, and hygiene.
8. Creativity: Creative flair and willingness to experiment with new ingredients, recipes, and cooking techniques to keep the menu fresh and exciting.
