Part-Time Wine Sales Associate

The Sweet Cheeks Winery family is an extension of the legacy built by our founder, Dan Smith. The tasting room team fully embraces a hospitality driven and elevated wine focused experience with every guest - we always strive to be the best part of their day. Our Southern Willamette Valley winery is looking for Wine Sales Associates to join our tasting room team in providing this experience for all of our guests. Our goal for all team members at Sweet Cheeks Winery is to uphold our values, vision, and hospitality standards.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • This is a sales position! You must be excited to professionally sell wine, wine club memberships, and elevated experiences.

  • You are passionate about sharing knowledge with guests and Members about wine, food pairings, the Willamette Valley, and our winery's story.

  • You show enthusiasm to learn about our vast selection of wines, the experiences we offer, our club memberships, and hosting guests, for a tableside experience that's wine focused and sales oriented.

  • Can comfortably match guests with their appropriate wine preferences and/or extend an offer to join our wine club

  • You are a naturally friendly and hospitable person.

  • You work cooperatively with a team.

  • You have experience working in the wine industry or have wine knowledge from personal experiences.

  • You are prompt, on-time, and detail-oriented.

Our Ideal Candidate would have the following skills and abilities :

  • Must be 21 to apply for this job.

  • 1 or more years in Wine, restaurant, or hospitality experience is required.

  • Can retain and demonstrate attention to detail.

  • Take initiative to learn and grow in your current wine knowledge.

  • Must have excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to troubleshoot, and prioritize all guests and members.

  • Must adhere to dress code standards that are consistent with our company standard.

  • Sales ability to add on and upsell wine, tastings, food pairings, memberships, experiences, and winery events.

  • Able to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system.

  • Positive attitude, initiates wine focused conversation, and enjoys working with guests.

  • Works in a professional and elevated manner.

  • Can work in a high paced work environment.

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time - 6-8 hours.

  • Must be able to lift 40 - 50 lbs regularly.

  • Must have availability to work weekends and holidays.

  • Ability to multitask while staying organized.

  • Must have, or be willing to obtain, a Food Handlers Card and OLCC permit.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of members, guests, and all staff members.

  • Follow Sweet Cheeks Winery values and hospitality standards.

  • Greet all guests with a smile and respond quickly to requests in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner

  • Serving/hospitality experience is a must.

  • Introduce, explain, and guide guests about the tasting process to help curate a tasting with knowledge on our various wines.

  • Can organize a wine flight properly and is able to talk about all of our wines to guests.

  • Explain the wine club membership options, benefits, and discounts, to effectively encourage a club sign-up.

  • Knows the history of our winery and is able to articulate information to guests in a confident and friendly manner.

  • Watch for signs of intoxication ensuring guest safety.

  • Understand and adhere to environmental standards and safety practices set by the winery.

  • Perform additional duties such as seating guests with the appropriate menu, stocking wine, polishing glasses, opening bottles, perform daily cleaning tasks, make cheese/charcuterie boards etc. as requested by the Tasting Room Managers or Tasting Room Lead.

  • Any other duties as assigned by a Manager.

Schedule :

We ask you are regularly available a minimum of 16 hours per week.

We are open daily from 11am -6pm. We can be flexible with shifts, but ask that you are regularly available during the majority of our open hours. Our higher traffic days are on weekends, but weekday availability is a plus. (exclusive of Thanksgiving, Christmas, & New Years day).

Compensation :

Starts at $15 Gratuity Commissions

This is an hourly position with advancement opportunities after six (6) months of employment.
