The Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic schools serve more than 40,000 students in 150 elementary and high schools in Cook and Lake counties. It is one of the largest private school systems in the United States. Its schools have received 96 Blue Ribbon awards from the U.S. Department of Education over the past 10 years.
The assistant principal enables the school administrator to provide more effective leadership in the implementation of the school’s mission, goals and philosophy. The Assistant Principal should be a person with initiative who is service oriented and passionate about the mission and goals of the School and Parish.
Accountability:
The assistant principal is selected by and is directly accountable to the principal. The assistant principal is expected to abide by the established policies and procedures of the
Archdiocese of Chicago. The assistant principal is accountable for upholding the educational policies and procedures of the local Catholic school and cooperates in providing an educational environment that promotes the mission of Catholic education. The assistant principal is a member of the administrative team. The annual performance review of the assistant principal will be conducted by the principal.
The principal assigns specific tasks essential to the function of the position.
Environmental and Physical Requirements:
The assistant principal is expected to supervise students and the safe environment of the school through regular site visits to classrooms and all other areas of the school. The assistant principal may be required to supervise and evaluate selected staff.
