South County Psychiatry is Hiring a Neuropsychologist Near Cranston, RI

South County Psychiatry (SCP) is an enterprise that serves adults, children, and families in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. SCP provides psychiatry, behavioral health, and weight and wellness services to its consumers.

We are looking to hire a psychologist to help conduct psychological/neuropsychological assessments in an outpatient private practice setting. The psychologist will be responsible for all aspects of diagnostic patient evaluations, administering and scoring test batteries evaluating cognitive, academic, neuropsychological, behavioral, and emotional status in order to assist Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Neurologists, and other medical professionals in treatment decisions. Assessments will be used to determine current functioning, aid in diagnostic clarification and inform treatment planning. The psychologist will work alongside current staff to grow and meet the need for psychological testing within our practice. Opportunities for consultation will be available and welcomed.

Expectations:

Provides high quality, high fidelity cognitive, educational, developmental, psychological and neuropsychological evaluation and testing services to children and/or adults presenting with a range mental health difficulties including ADHD, disruptive behaviors, autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, trauma, anxiety and mood disorders, medical and neurological conditions, and other challenges. We service ages 6-65, with opportunities to expand and/or specialize based on experience and preference.

Minimum Qualifications

  • *Experience conducting Psychological Testing is required*
  • Doctoral degree in the following fields: Clinical psychology, school psychology or a related field
  • Licensed psychologist in Rhode Island/Massachusetts/Connecticut (any of the aforementioned)
  • Minimum of 1- 3 years in a relevant role
  • A strong ability to work in clinical contexts.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to remain focused on the task at hand
  • Mastery in verbal communication and the ability to know when to talk and when to listen create safe surroundings for clients.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and also as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Documentation skills utilizing the electronic health record system.

Diagnostic Patient Evaluations:

  • Conduct and document a detailed clinical interview
  • Educate patients about the testing process and clarify any policies and procedures.
  • Determine appropriate testing measures and indicate the ordered measures in the patient record.
  • Request authorization from insurance to provide testing services. If authorization is not granted, complete any appeals and follow up to ensure patients can receive services.
  • Administer testing measures as needed and provide support to testing technicians.
  • Write integrative review of results, formulate diagnosis, and generate tailored clinical recommendations.
  • Review clinical cases and reports with staff as needed
  • Respond to requested follow-up from patients or parents as needed in order to answer questions or clarify clinical procedures.
  • Provide integrative feedback sessions where results of testing are provided to the patient along with diagnostic impressions and tailored recommendations.
  • Periodic reviews, and ongoing further education and training to ensure delivery of appropriate and effective services.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological assessments to identify cognitive functioning, mood and/or personality differences, attention-related difficulties, and overall emotional challenges.
  • Conduct intake appointments, testing, and feedback appointments in addition to report writing including evidence-based treatment recommendations upon completion. Clearly communicate results to clients, families, and referral sources
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with the Director of Psychological Testing as needed
  • Complete detailed assessment reports in a timely manner, utilizing the organization’s style of writing and organization. All assessment reports are subject to the review and approval of the Director.
  • Stay current with updated research and best practices.
  • Be aware of community referral sources and refer when necessary.
  • Learn and use electronic systems for scheduling and medical documentation
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and enhancing your skills utilizing internal and external resources
  • Ability and willingness to accept and incorporate feedback on clinical and professional skills to enhance performance
  • Practice with integrity and ethics. Be mindful of your competencies and limitations and refer to a team member and/or consult as appropriate
