South Country Health Alliance has an immediate need for a Senior Business Systems Analyst!

The Senior Business Systems Analyst manages complex systems development and enhancement projects, utilizing skills that require an understanding of complex business processes and the ability to translate those into the required technical specifications. The ideal candidate will be a true team player with advanced SQL and analytic skills, who enjoys extracting data, understanding various business requirements, and working closely with data.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree (Technology, Business, and/or Analytics concentration preferred); Five years’ experience as a business systems analyst or in a position with advanced project management and technical expertise; Two years’ experience with Power BI and/or writing SQL queries. Previous experience with Medicaid or Medicare health data, especially medical claims and enrollment is preferred.

This position is a grade 10 and salary ranges from a minimum of $79.5K to $110.7K annually.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Senior Business Systems Analyst

Dept: Information Technology

Reports To: Director of IT & Analytics

Date: April 2024

Skill Sets: Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated abilities in team building and leadership; advanced technical expertise, such troubleshooting, analytics, research, and SQL coding; knowledge of the advanced principles and practices of project management and workflow analysis; exceptional conflict and problem resolution skills; strong organization and critical thinking skills; proficient in providing high-level customer service; self-starter and ability to take initiative.

Education/Experience: Required : Bachelor’s degree (Technology, Business, and/or Analytics concentration preferred); Five years’ experience as a business systems analyst or in a position with advanced project management and technical expertise; Two years’ experience with Power BI and/or writing SQL queries.

Preferred: Previous experience with Medicaid or Medicare health data, especially medical claims and enrollment.

Primary Function

Manage complex systems development and enhancement projects, utilizing skills that require an understanding of complex business processes and the ability to translate those into the required technical specifications. Conduct independent research, interpret highly technical documents, draw valid conclusions, develop technological solutions, take appropriate actions and/or make appropriate recommendations related to complex IT problems.

Essential Accountabilities

  1. Analyze South Country’s technical systems for efficiency, accuracy, and quality. Develop and manage project plans that promote improvement to these systems.
  2. Manage project teams so that project risks can be identified, and solutions created and implemented.
  3. Proactively insert self into the business and identifies areas for improvement in processes and systems. Work with the Business Analyst to translate these needs into technical requirements.
  4. Utilize analytical tools such as Power BI and SQL to interpret and analyze complex medical and enrollment data sets, producing insight in a way that enables informed decision making,
  5. Develop and implement comprehensive test plans to ensure that systems and programs are tested and debugged.
  6. Provide mentorship to other staff members within the organization.
  7. Other duties assigned within the scope, responsibility, and requirements of the job.

Mathematical Skills :

Advanced mathematical skills. Intermediate to advanced data analysis skills.

Accuracy :

High attention to detail and considerable accuracy is required. Errors and omissions may result in significant loss, such as the inability of enrollees to access health care services and may result in contractual and regulatory non-compliance. Errors that are not easily detected may have a critical impact on the organization.

Reasoning Ability :

Must utilize keen judgment and highly developed analytical skills in balancing complex business issues in the decision-making and project planning process.

Contacts

This position works very closely with all internal departments daily as well as frequent interaction with business partners, including third party organizations and software vendor contacts. This position must maintain satisfactory relationships, which may include collaboration in executing established policies, securing compliance with approved procedures, and innovating to improve current practices, and is considered a technical expert in their field.

Financial Impact

This position is responsible for the creation of complex technical solutions that are peer reviewed and approved by the Director of IT & Analytics. Incorrect solutions could result in regulatory fines, loss of confidence of our members and users or incorrect decisions made by South Country Health Alliance.
