We are looking for a knowledgeable electrical project manager that can manage a team of electricians while leading by example and providing outstanding customer service. The project manager should have good people skills with clear and concise communication. It would be preferable for the project manager to be bilingual in English and Spanish. The ideal project has managed teams from 5-20 people, has their own transportation, has managed multiple jobs in the range of $250,000- $2M, and has at least 5 years of previous project manager experience. Must be able to read blueprints/electrical plans and specs. Journeyman card holder is a plus. Please see below for more detailed information on job duties and responsibilities.

Full Job Description

A project manager is a crucial role in the construction industry, responsible for overseeing and coordinating electrical projects. They work closely with a team of electricians and other tradespeople to ensure that electrical systems are installed correctly and meet safety standards.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Leading and supervising a team of electricians and apprentices, providing guidance, training, and support throughout the project.
  • Collaborating with owners and other stakeholders to develop project plans and timelines.
  • Reading and interpreting electrical blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate installation.
  • Conducting regular inspections to ensure compliance with electrical codes and regulations.
  • Oversee the install, repair, and testing of commercial, industrial and residential electrical systems in full support of Robco Electric safety, operations and productivity initiatives.
  • Oversee and coordinate on-site electrical work with general contractor and other trades.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise during the installation process.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment, enforcing safety protocols, and providing training as needed.
  • Managing project budgets and resources, ensuring efficient use of materials and equipment.
  • Keeping up to date with industry trends and advancements in electrical systems and technologies.
  • Able to manage and coordinate subcontractors.
  • Manage and maintain job schedules.
  • Able to meet with electrical inspectors and discuss electrical installations.
  • Manage submittals, RFI's, proposals, change orders and daily correspondence with project teams.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the NEC Codes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Environment and Safety Requirements:

  • This position requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, etc.
  • Must wear PPE (hard hat, safety glasses) always.

Skills & Competencies

  • Manual dexterity: An electrician must have good manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Color vision: They must be able to identify wires by color, so normal color vision is critical.
  • Physical fitness and a good sense of balance: They may be on their feet all day and work at high elevations, in addition to routinely lifting objects that weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • Troubleshooting and analytical skills: They need to decide which device is the right one for testing a wide variety of problems and then figure out the best solutions.
  • Ability to work on a team: Many electricians work on crews with limited supervision.
  • Ability to manage a team: The electrical Foreman not only works on the crew but is responsible for managing the crew(s) of 5-20 people.
  • Ability to work 8 -10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime as required. Includes crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching.
  • Able to routinely lift heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds, pushing and pulling of objects is required with repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers.
  • Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the position.
