Experience: Law Enforcement, Military Duty, First Responder, TCOLE School Marshal Major Responsibilities and Duties: Serve as the campus safety & security subject matter expert. Monitor all campus safety protocols and assure that staff and students are following San Marcos CISD safety policies. Communicate concerns with campus administration & the Director of Safety. Determine why students are out of class and the nature of their activities and direct or escort them as necessary. Point of contact with law enforcement. Ensure all exterior doors/gates are correctly functioning by automatically closing and locking throughout the day. Immediately notify the Directors of Maintenance and Safety when repairs are needed. Log door and camera functionality weekly. Ensure all gates are closed, secured, and locked at all times. Build positive relationships and rapport with students and staff. Ensure staff and student ID badge compliance. Monitor morning/afternoon carpool & bus areas. Monitor the exterior/perimeter of the campus. Confront suspicious persons inside and outside of the building. Serve as the Campus Emergency Operations Plan Administrator. Administer Standard Response Protocol training. Schedule, plan, and conduct drills in accordance with the Standard Response Protocol. Prepare and administer basic life support training to faculty and staff in accordance with SMCISD Health & Safety protocols Lead the Behavior Threat Assessment team. Lead the campus safety committee. Deescalate and if necessary usher elevated visitors from the campus. Intervene and assist in situations likely to result in disruption or injury and direct students to refrain from such conduct. Advise administration regarding child custody and protection orders. Monitor alarm systems and communicate with system administrators. Monitor cameras when not actively moving about the campus. Navigate 360 point of contact Conducts outside security checks of student-occupied areas. Create and coordinate the teacher duty schedule. Coordinate and oversee the daily operations of the campus monitors. Supervise at school events that may occur during or after school hours as directed by principal or designee. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise all Campus monitors. Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with San Marcos CISD policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training campus monitors, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Safety Sensitive Position: requires initial drug test plus random drug testing throughout the year Tools/Equipment Used: two-way radio, alarm system and other security equipment, fire extinguisher, and standard office equipment including computer and peripherals Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing Motion: Strenuous walking and climbing stairs; occasional keyboarding and use of mouse, moderate driving Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (15–44 pounds) Environment: Work inside and outside (moderate exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); moderate exposure to noise and vehicle exhaust; frequent districtwide travel.
