Flexsys Optical Billing Specialist

This role resides within the Revenue department and, like all of our billing positions, cross-trains in all areas of our Billing Department. We value staff that are knowledgeable and able to deeply understand and assist with all areas of the billing cycle. We provide on the job training for all of our candidates that are driven to learn new skills. This position is Ideally for an experienced candidate who has specifically worked as an Optician, and/or has worked with Flexsys (our Billing Software for Glasses and Lenses).

Flexsys Optical Billing Specialist Duties and Responsibilities

Typically Involve these Tasks:

• Answer patient billing statement questions
• Collect patient payments, as needed
• Process and send out patient statements from Flexsys
• Prepare and send out past due collections letters
• Track and Send patient accounts to collections, as needed
• Post insurance and patient payments
• Correcting Hardware (Glasses, Contact Lenses) Claims
• Reviewing claims for denials, correcting, and resubmitting them.
• Sending Remits for Correction to Optical Lead Staff
• Submitting claim disputes for Hardware (Glasses, Contact Lenses)
• Processing refunds, as approved
• Verify if an insurance policy is active or not for a given patient
• Tracking Metrics and Trends on Claims and Denials
• Sharing Weekly Claim and Denied Claim Metrics
• Communicating with Revenue and Optical Staff to Ensure Accuracies and Efficiency
• Supporting Revenue Lead Staff and Optical Lead Staff on Metrics Gathering, Reporting, and Trend Analysis regarding Flexsys claims

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent Required.
• University/college degree preferred.
• Previous medical office experience of at least 6 months Preferred.
• Previous Optical/Optician Experience Preferred.
• Flexsys Billing Experience Strongly Preferred if not Required.
• Preference for candidates with at least 6 Months of Experience in a Medical Office Setting.

Rate of pay based on Flexsys Billing experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
