Pineland Farms Dairy Company (PFDC) proudly sources milk from local dairy farmers to create award winning cheese in our Bangor, Maine food manufacturing facility. We are looking for a full time, day shift Team Member for our Cheese Room department. There are two schedules available for this position: (7:00am – 4:30pm M-Th; 7:00am – 11:00am F) or (6:00am – 4:30pm M-Th). Starting pay is $18.00/hour with overtime potential based on production schedule and employee availability. Overtime is occasional and non-mandatory.

Job Description:

The Cheese Room Team Member is responsible for making several different varieties of cheese which is manufactured and aged in our facility for retail distribution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Learn how to set up the room, make the different varieties of cheese, de-hoop, seal, CIP (clean- in-place), and COP (clean-out-of-place). Understand the cause and effect that your decisions have on the cheese making process.
• Work in harmony with the other members of the Production Team in our Cheese Room department to ensure operations run smoothly.
• Maintain production and sanitation procedures with SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and SSOPs (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures).
• Visually inspect product as it is made, pressed, and packaged for any defects or issues.
• Operate the equipment per the regulatory requirements of the State, FDA, and USDA with proper documentation on the pre and post operational inspections and CIP.

General:

• Execute assigned duties with minimal supervision in a satisfactory and timely manner
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures
• Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and sanitation procedures
• Perform all other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Reading & writing proficiency (English language)
• Basic math skills; some knowledge of Excel a plus
• Manufacturing experience, food service experience, or agricultural background preferred
• Mechanical aptitude helpful, as this is a hands-on position
• Ability to work well as part of a team
• Good communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and perform under pressure
• Flexible schedule at the end of the shift, as needed to complete daily production
• May occasionally be asked to provide vacation coverage of other schedules as needed
