Work Environment:

Small animal clinic, work in front and back of clinic, high level of client interaction, fast paced environment. Potential for exposure to zoonotic diseases and possible hazardous materials. We pride ourselves on delivering outstanding care to our patients and clients. We are a clinic that focuses on working together as a team in effort of caring for the pets and their owners.

Duties:

• Assist Veterinarian in patient care and medical treatments including but not limited to: medication administration, vaccine administration, acquiring laboratory samples, anesthesia monitoring, dental prophy, surgical preparation, bathing animals, ear cleanings and nail trims. Know how to restrain fractious patients using proper restraint.

• Maintain and use medical equipment such as vaporizers, autoclave

• Gentle and compassionate care of patients.

• Answer phones and make appointments as needed.

• Relay appropriate information to/from clients to doctors and/or management

• Clean the clinic including but not limited to: laundry, floors, taking out the trash and recycling, cleaning treatment/exam areas, surgery, kennels, and bathroom. This is not for the faint of heart, you must be prepared to handle cleaning of Feces, Vomit, Urine and Blood daily.

• Able to use Windows based computer systems, word processing, email, web search and other skills needed to effectively use the clinic management software program.

• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

At least 2 years experience as a Veterinary Tech.

High level of physical activity - Must be able to safely lift 50 pounds, Must be able to bend and kneel repeatedly.

Flexible and Willing to Perform Other Tasks as Assigned

Self-Starter and Able to Work Independently, Able to see needs ahead of time and prepare accordingly.

Basic math and writing skills.

Ability to stay organized and prioritize in a busy work environment.

Must be dependable - we cannot express this enough. If you have an issue with regularly showing up to work, this is Not the position for you.

Should be able to identify own limitations and be willing to ask for help.

Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to manage them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.

Will be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises and animal body fluids. May be exposed to bites, scratches and contagious diseases.

This is Not a glamorous job, it is hard work, but very rewarding!
