Nimel Mental Health is an accredited, as well as rapidly growing Outpatient Mental Health Clinic located in PG County MD. We are currently seeking friendly, experienced and team-oriented professional who can provide therapeutic substance abuse counseling to the populations served. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, the essential goal is to provide continuity of services (PHP, IOP, OP) to chemically dependent clients throughout assessment, treatment planning and delivery, discharge and referral.
Provide services in a recovery-oriented framework, to empower clients to begin or resume their recovery journey, and progress along the path to long-term addiction recovery, while encouraging 12-Step and other community-based program involvement.
Job Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, to evaluate clients’ mental and physical health, addiction severity, problematic behavior, and readiness for treatment. Effectively communicate clinical rationale for appropriate type and intensity of services offered within the PHP, IOP, and OP levels of care.
Work with clients to develop, implement, and monitor individualized and realistic treatment plans, to meet clients’ changing needs throughout their treatment.
Inspire, educate, and motivate clients to achieve meaningful long-term recovery by facilitating technology-enabled group and individual therapy, and psychoeducation sessions.
Utilize evidence-based curriculum, trauma informed, and person-centered practices.
Apply recognized therapeutic modalities, such as 12-Step, CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing.
Empower clients to identify behaviors, situations, and people that interfere with their recovery, develop and sustain coping skills that support their recovery, and implement lasting change in their dynamic lives of recovery.
Maintain contact with referral sources and other agencies involved in client care and discharge planning.
Ensure clients access appropriate ancillary support services, for effective case management and developing continuing care plans.
Have familiarity with Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), discuss options with clients and refer to appropriate provider.
Document all clinical care utilizing agency's Electronic Health Record.
Minimum Requirements:
Must have a minimum of Alcohol and Drug Trainee (ADT) status.
1-3 years’ experience in the field of substance abuse counseling.
Education:.
Possession of a degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or Human Services and/or Maryland State certification or licensure as: CSC-AD, CAC-AD, LGADC, LGPC, or LMSW.
