OWENSBORO FAMILY YMCA is Hiring a Director of Child Care Near Owensboro, KY

Description

Under the general direction of the CEO, in collaboration with the Chief Development Officer, and in accordance with the YMCA mission and policies, the Director of Child Care is responsible for the administration, development, marketing and planning of After School Programs, Summer Day Camp, Holiday Camp, and Preschool. The Director supervises, guides, and develops the Child Care staff to ensure a quality state compliant program with positive atmosphere. The Director will also oversee family focused events. The Director is a valuable part of the leadership staff team and must model the values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith in daily work. 

Requirements

Must be 21 years old at minimum and on site daily when childcare is open. Preferred Associate Degree or higher in Early Child Childhood Education with two-years experience working in a licensed childcare facility in a supervisory role. Strong skills are required in communication, staff supervision and development, budgeting, time management, planning, and interpersonal relationships. Presentation skills, both oral and written, play a large part in the communication to parents, staff, children, members, and the community. 

Child Care Administrative Duties:

1. Maintains accurate participant and staff records in accordance with Commonwealth of Kentucky Childcare licensing regulations

2. Ensures that state and local licensing guidelines are met at each childcare location and corrects deficiencies in a timely manner. 

3. Ensures that YMCA and All Star program standards are met, and safety procedures followed.

4. Develops and maintain relationships with associated community organizations, city and county schools and boards. 

5. Maintains inventory of supplies needed to operate programs.

6. Plans and supervises all childcare programming, including summer camps, after school, holiday camps, Wee Care and preschool. Develops and maintains all childcare handbooks, curriculum, guidelines and policies.

7. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquires and complaints within 24 hours.

8. Oversees marketing and distribution of program information.

9. Interprets and enforces YMCA policies, procedures and communicates to childcare staff, participants and families in positive manner that is supportive to the YMCA.

10. Surveys parents and participants on a regular schedule to gauge program satisfaction.

11. Arranges programs for school release and days off that will effectively meet the needs of the families in the community or those currently participating in the school age programs.

12. Organizes, staffs, and hosts family fun nights, kids night out, and special events.

Child Care Supervisory and Staffing Duties: 

1. Hires, onboards, trains, supervises and evaluates Child Care staff through a planned process that includes personal attention, orientation, and ongoing training to meet all state standards. 

2. Provides monthly training opportunities to staff.

3. Completes formal evaluations on the childcare staff minimally twice per year.

4. Ensures all staff follow education and continuing education requirements.

5. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. 

6. Maintains proper staff records and departmental files in accordance with state regulations.

7. Enforces YMCA rules and regulations outlined in employee handbook and childcare handbook. 

8. Creates staff schedules and ensure proper coverage is maintained during operating hours. 

9. Approves staff time sheets, vacation, sick time, and any other paid time off. 

10. Supervises billing process including the printing and distribution of invoices, collections of past due account, and billing of state agencies for foster care and state assisted children.
