Newtex Industries is Hiring a Weave Room Technician Near High Point, NC

Newtex Industries, Inc. has been a pioneer and leading global manufacturer of high-performance textiles for thermal management and fire protection.

Newtex Industries has an immediate need for a Loom Technician in our High Point, North Carolina facility.

40 hours per week average at this time (Customer order driven and can change). The position will be on 1stshift. Hours of operation are 6:00 A.M. – 4:30 P.M. Monday through Thursday.

Job Duties Include:

  • Must conduct your work in a safe manner, following all company required safe work rules. Report any accidents near misses and or unsafe conditions immediately. Attend all required safety training. Maintain all safety aspects of the looms i.e. all control buttons, safety guards.
  • Manage and maintain both narrow and broad looms.
  • Will set-up, adjust and repair looms to weave specified quantity, design and quality using knowledge of loom functions, weaving diagrams, and manuals.
  • Ensure that looms run to optimum efficiency for the fabric style being produced.
  • Ensure that the quality checklist is completed and tickets signed for each new warp.
  • Perform general maintenance of the looms – in response to breakdowns and perform preventive maintenance in line with the company’s preventative maintenance program.
  • Monitor spare parts stock levels and report back to the manger any requirement. Recording parts that have been fitted onto the machine, during your shift period and the current stock level. Document any repairs/adjustments carried out to looms on the work carried out/parts fitted record sheet on each loom.
  • Make routine inspections of all the looms to ensure the absence of faults.
  • Identify and rectify faults diagnosed as quickly as possible to get the equipment back up and running.
  • Ensure that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained within the weaving areas.
  • Repair looms regardless of who’s up keep
  • Patrol loom section to detect quality and mechanical issues.
  • Setup and start new warp at tie back and hang.
  • Make repairs necessary to reduce loom stops.
  • Check out new warps for any quality and mechanical issues.
  • Assist manager in ordering parts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior manufacturing experience.
  • Must Pass criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Demonstrated Mechanical aptitude.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should know about and have demonstrated ability to learn the Manufacturing software currently in use at the facility.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Demonstrated ability to speak/communicate effectively.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished either written, oral, or in a form of a diagram. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, walk, talk and hear. This position requires good clear vision and including color, peripheral, distance, and depth perception, the ability to adjust focus. Routine exposure to a noisy environment. Climbs stairs and / or ladders. This position very frequently lifts from 10 lbs. to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and electricity;

  • Moving machinery is present as well as transportation traffic moving items in and around the work area;
