What you’ll do 

As a Software Engineer at Otter, you'll be an integral part of our data-driven development team, contributing to the evolution of cutting-edge internal tools. Your role will encompass a diverse range of responsibilities, including: 

• Data-Driven Development: Contribute to a data-centric development team.
• Project Planning: Engage in strategic planning for various internal tools.
• Agile Methodologies: Implement and test software using agile methodologies.
• Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with a collaborative team to enhance and support technology.
• Code Contribution: Write, debug, maintain, and test code for diverse projects.
• Architectural Design: Design scalable systems with a focus on architecture.
• Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Innovation: Drive innovation within the team and support CSS’ technological advancements.

What the team focuses on

The core mission of the Orders team is to provide reliable, transparent and extensible restaurant order orchestration. Our team also provides restaurants with an accurate measure of their success and the tools to improve it. 

In order to do so, this team builds the framework and integrations to ingest orders data from global online food ordering services (OFOs) into the Otter ecosystem, and we manage the pipeline for all order financial data.

This team operates some of the highest-traffic-throughput services in the company, handling millions of customer orders per day across hundreds of integrations. We also maintain mechanisms to monitor data quality in our ecosystem, since our revenue data needs to be accurate and reliable. We believe that our team is only successful if we make restaurants more successful.

What we’re looking for

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Software, Computer Systems or Networks Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience: 5-8 years of domain experience in the specified role.
• Individual Contribution: A track record of significant contributions in previous roles, showcasing your ability to make a meaningful impact.
• Strong ability to design and create long-lasting architecture from scratch and evolve existing systems.
• Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to collaborate with non engineering stakeholders. 
• Experience in designing and implementing distributed systems that are scalable, reliable, and efficient.
• Experience in maintaining and extending large-scale, high traffic applications.
