New Life is Hiring a Youth Director Near Pell, AL

New Life is a new church plant in Pell City, AL near Logan Martin Lake. Pell City is conveniently located between Birmingham, AL and Atlanta, GA. New Life launched in November 2022 with a mission to Glorify God, Make Disciples, and Bless Others in Jesus’ name. We desire for all people to experience New Life in Jesus Christ. New Life continues to grow and recently celebrated the purchase of land upon which to build a new church home.

The New Life Youth Director (Minister of Youth/Youth Pastor) will lead and direct the Youth Ministry (grades 6 to 12) of New Life in developing and overseeing discipleship ministries. These ministries will help young people in our community grow into healthy followers of Jesus Christ. This includes developing effective systems, inspiring programs, and equipping volunteers to provide a safe Bible-based learning environment for our youth. Additionally, this position will be a primary voice and advocate for the needs of the youth at New Life.

The Youth Director will work alongside the Pastors, laity, ministry team leaders and volunteers to build programs and systems designed to support healthy families. The ideal candidate for this position has a calling, a passion for and experience with leading an ever-growing, ever-changing youth ministry. The ideal candidate will possess qualities necessary for this position such as spiritual maturity, flexibility, strong organizational and communication skills as well as the ability to lead and assemble a team of volunteers. The candidate should hold to New Life’s mission statement, beliefs and teachings.

Job Description and Responsibilities

The Youth Director will:

Comply with New Life’s Safe Sanctuary policy at all times.

Work with and oversee teachers, parents and volunteers to implement lessons, activities, and supervision for all Youth classes on Sundays and Wednesdays.

Ensure a timely and accurate check-in process for parents and youth making sure that “Safe Sanctuary” policies and procedures are in effect and followed at all times.

Ensure all classrooms are equipped with supplies and procedures prior to the start of class.

Oversee set up and tear down while recruiting volunteers to help as necessary.

Create and share resources to help families worship at home when necessary.

Create/organize/publish the curriculum for Sunday/Wednesday classes for the Youth program.

Make all plans and purchases necessary to support Youth outings.

Recruit and equip volunteers to teach/serve in the Youth ministry.

Fill absentee volunteer positions through recruitment, assigning roles, training, etc.

Support volunteers by providing encouragement, resources, feedback, and demonstrations of appreciation.

Coordinate with parents and volunteers to provide support and accommodations for anyone with special needs.

Attend staff meetings when requested.

Receptively listen to suggestions and concerns from parents and volunteers.

Lead quarterly volunteer leadership team and parent advisory board meetings.

Check and promptly respond to emails, voicemails, and mail received.

Ensure thorough and efficient communication with parents regarding updates and curriculum details via newsletters, emails, social media and other appropriate methods.

Assist in maintaining current records and databases for volunteer contact information, applications, and background checks through the Church office.

Create and maintain a file for events with event information, a detailed timeline, notes suggesting enhancements and things that went well so that the event can be easily planned again, changed, or duplicated for the next year.

Create and maintain a Youth Ministry Manual with policies and procedures; update annually.

Purchase any ministry supplies as needed.

Oversee budget expenses, recording expenditures, and filing requests annually

Create and coordinate events for families and children.

Assist other church staff as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

A professing Christian who holds to the New Life’s statement of faith.

Commitment to an ethical lifestyle appropriate for ministry service.

Minimum of two years demonstrated, effective supervisory ministry leadership experience in a church setting or equivalent education and/or experience.

Well-rounded Biblical background through formal education, or equivalent study and experience.

Able to maintain a high level of integrity, discernment, and discretion with sensitive information and people.

Excellent teamwork and management abilities to lead a ministry team, multiple projects, and supervision of employees, parents and volunteers.

Ability to innovate, initiate, organize, complete, and follow up on applicable project work. Able to creatively problem-solve if issues arise.

Self-motivated to study and improve knowledge and skill in areas of responsibility as needed.

Strong interpersonal skills, with sensitivity to faith and beliefs, in contact with employees, volunteers, parents, and congregants.

Ability to communicate effectively with Pastors, church staff, parents and volunteers using oral and written formats, with a demonstrated ability to make effective group presentations.

Other Specifications:

Reports to all Pastors and the Human Resources Committee

This is currently a part-time position.

Schedule: As is typical for ministry, this position requires a flexible schedule. It includes agreed upon onsite office hours, Sunday services, evening activities and meetings.

Compensation is based on experience and education.

This position does not currently offer a benefit package.
