Nevada State High School is Hiring an Educational Advising Coordinator Lead Near Las Vegas, NV

NSHS is a fast-growing public charter school network in Nevada hosting one central office and serving approximately 1,000 11th and

12th grade students in nine(9) locations. NSHS continues to meet the community’s demand of preparing high school students to attend college without having to take remedial coursework.

Under the direction of the Nevada State High School Campus Instructional Director, the Educational Advising Coordinator Lead is responsible for: Duties Tasks and Support, Implement Curriculum, Student Interventions, Special Programs Implementation, and Student Progress. In addition, as a lead, this position would be responsible for Leadership Management and Accountability, leading weekly EAC collaborations, mentoring, attending site leadership meetings, and conducting classroom observations.

Qualifications

  • Hold or be able to acquire, by time of appointment to the position, a Nevada Secondary High School Substitute Teacher License.
  • Demonstrated ability and advanced proficiency in keyboarding and Microsoft Office Suite
  • High degree of interpersonal, teaching, planning, organization, communication, and public speaking skills
Tasks & Duties: Job Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for a diverse range of tasks aimed at ensuring the smooth operation of various educational and administrative processes. Duties include monitoring, assigning, and responding to email messages and help tickets within a 24-hour timeframe. This role involves direct communication with applicants, conducting phase appointments, and updating SchoolMint notes for the registration process. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for setting up classrooms for Study Skills, contacting parents of absent students through SSR logs, and targeting non-Study Skills student contacts.
  • The position requires the implementation of the Study Skills curriculum, encompassing announcements, introductions, independent study checks, progress updates on College & BYU programs, test preparation programs, 5-questions overviews, and closures. Administrative tasks include entering grades into Canvas, recording attendance on hard copy and Infinite Campus, checking Canvas for announcements to reinforce in Study Skills, saving portfolio items in appropriate folders/drives, and logging hours in ActiTime.
  • Weekly responsibilities encompass activities such as preparing for and participating in L10 Meetings, managing the COMPASS class, assisting with testing administration, and supporting the Transitions class implementation. The candidate will coordinate tutoring for remedial students, create and report SSR plans, check and complete To-Dos, and update Basecamp projects. Actively monitoring BYU student progress and reviewing Study Skills lessons for the next day are also integral aspects of the role. 
  • Monthly responsibilities include submitting a Monthly Schedule Request by the 25th, ensuring contact with all study skills exempt students for the month, conducting student/parent meetings as needed, and logging on SSR. Additionally, the candidate will support and document SSR student services, update TrackVia function 500 for submitted portfolio items, and update the progress of tasks in Basecamp®. This multifaceted role requires meticulous attention to detail, effective communication skills, and a proactive approach to managing various responsibilities.

$60,000 - $70,000 a year
Pay and Benefits: $60,000-$70,000 Medical, dental, vision, LTD. No state/local income tax and state retirement 100 % paid (no SS deductions, representing a saving of approximately 6%-12% of net pay). Two (2) days of PTO per month and federal holidays off.
Incentives: Annual performance bonus pay structure of up to 7.5% of base salary and annual salary movement based on satisfactory evaluations.
