Job Title: Broadcast Systems Engineer, HOT 97 and WBLS

At MediaCo Holding Inc. , we’re changing the way people think about enterprise Media and Digital Technology with our iconic and innovative radio brands HOT97 and WBLS . We are a fast-growing company with a fun atmosphere and lots of opportunity. We are currently seeking a Broadcast Systems Engineer to work as part of our New York technology team.

The Broadcast Systems Engineer is responsible for integration, maintenance, operation, and support of broadcast studio and transmitter facilities, digital media production and distribution systems, and business information technology in our New York market and reports to the Chief Technology Officer. The technology team works together to maintain constant uptime of all systems and to follow best practices for design and maintenance of a critical systems environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Install, maintain, and troubleshoot broadcast systems including:

  • FM and HD Radio transmitters, combiners, and antenna systems.
  • Transmission ancillary systems such as studio-transmitter links, control systems, RF switching, and HD Radio signal generation equipment.
  • Studio equipment, including audio, control, and support systems in an Audio-over-IP environment. Must have experience with complex multi-station facilities.
  • Broadcast Information Technology such as digital production tools, video asset management, and audio and video streaming.
  • Playout systems including management of server and workstation configuration, database maintenance, and management of redundancy and disaster recovery capabilities. Provide end-user support.
  • Digital video production systems. Familiarity with video production equipment including routing, switching, and signal processing required.
  • Plan remote video production events and work with digital team to ensure their successful execution.
  • Setup and engineering of remote radio broadcasts.

Support business information technology, including:

  • Workstation and server hardware, SAN, and network infrastructure
  • PC and Mac applications
  • Windows Server, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, VMWare, and macOS.
  • Active Directory infrastructure and IT management tools
  • Unified Communications system, carrier Ethernet and microwave links, and other telecommunications technology.

Support management and maintenance of physical plant, including:

  • Maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems including HVAC and BMS controls, generators, transfer switches, fire suppression systems, security systems, and other building systems.

General Skills:

  • Work within a project management structure and as part of a multidisciplinary technology team. Create and maintain drawings, wiring documentation, and system configuration documentation.
  • Maintain a positive work environment through active team participation and a good attitude focused on quality customer service for both internal and external customers.
  • Stay current on technological advances within our industry.
  • Have knowledge of and ability to verify compliance with FCC rules and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Other duties as directed.

Qualifications:

  • At least three years broadcast technical experience constructing and maintaining broadcast studio and transmitter facilities and supporting business and broadcast information technology.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering discipline preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and work on elevated surfaces such as rooftops, pull and install wiring, use hand and power tools, work on small components, and perform other physical tasks related to electronic and plant maintenance.
  • Available to work various hours and days including some weekends, overnights, and holidays. On-call status 24/7 in case of equipment failure. Must respond in a timely manner to trouble calls and support them to resolution.
