In this internship you will... (Scope & Purpose)

…be responsible for the administrative support of NCBA CLUSA membership and sponsorship operations. In collaboration with the VP, Cooperative Relations, they will support the success of the membership and sponsorship strategies. The incumbent will be responsible for the following aspects of membership and sponsorship, opportunity identification, recruitment, retention and financial management. The person in this position will work with the Vice President of Cooperative Relations on strategies to achieve revenue and membership targets. The position provides the opportunity to combine creativity and innovation in outreach and member services. This internship will pay between $20 and $25 and hour.

In this internship you will learn... (Essential Areas of Responsibility)

  • HubSpot deal management CRM operations to update data and run reports to track progress in reaching membership revenue targets.
  • How to serve as a subject matter expert on membership and sponsorship opportunities, and how to serve as the point of contact on any membership or sponsorship ideas and administration.
  • How to partner with the Communications Team & Communications Intern to manage the communications and marketing of membership and sponsorship engagement opportunities.
  • How to conduct prospecting research on potential members and sponsors and works with the VP of Cooperative Relations on pitching and building new strategies in growing membership and sponsorship revenue.
  • How to establish and nurtures relationships with current members/sponsors and fosters new relationships with prospective members and sponsors.
  • How to manage the membership database and information effectively and strategically on sponsor engagement, providing a weekly status report on each engagement activities and efforts.
  • How to support project management for association events like the Annual Membership meeting, IMPACT Conference, and Co-op Roundtables.

We’re looking for someone who… (Skills & Experience)

  • An undergraduate or graduate student with a strong interest in business, marketing, entrepreneurship, or organizational design.
  • Strong interest in learning sales, marketing, and customer relationship management.
  • Comfort and familiarity with Microsoft 365, and database programs like Airtable.
  • Excellent organizational capability.
  • Strong writing and interpersonal communication skills.

Mostly Hybrid Environment…

  • The expectations are for a weekly schedule of 20-25 hours each week.
  • There are three internship semesters in a year: (1) January-April, (2) May-August, (3) September-December. The strongest preference is for an intern that can commit to work for three consecutive semesters (1 year).
  • Most of the job functions can be performed remotely, with the expectation of in-office support for events (Annual Membership Meeting, IMPACT conference, and Co-op Roundtables), and for special projects (i.e., invoice mailing or special trainings).

Professional Interactions & Relationships

The Membership and Sponsorships Intern reports to the Vice President of Cooperative Relations. They are expected to work in a positive, professional manner with all NCBA CLUSA staff, former staff, members, potential members, vendors, and the general public.
