Job Skills Required
- At least three years structural steel experience preferred, but will consider other applicants. Will need to be certified according to AWS Standards.
- Must be proficient with a cutting torch.
- Knowledge is required in the following areas: assembly; parts; welding; welding symbols; ability to read and understand welding drawings; quality control; knowledge of a variety of structural members (beams, channel, angle) and safety. Must be able to pass a test to operate an overhead crane.
- Effective verbal, written, and mathematical skills are required.
- Must be able to walk and stand throughout an ten hour day.
- Must be able to consistently lift 80 lbs. or turn over a beam or column.
- Must be able to repetitively use arms, hands, and fingers in the manipulation of parts and weld gun.
- Must demonstrate good hand/eye coordination.
- Must demonstrate good manual dexterity.
- Must be able to read, evaluate, and respond to product specifications and drawings, and perform normal math calculations easily.
- Must have strong general mechanical skills.
- Must be able to pass drug and criminal background screenings.

Lavonia Stair & Rail was merged into Southeastern Stair & Rail, LLC in 2009 to, among other things, personify a more regional market. 2007 brought about the formation of Macuch Structural Steel Detailing, In House, again providing an in house alternative, this time for the detailing of structural and miscellaneous steel. Macuch Steel Products, Inc. and its affiliates (known as The Family of Steel) can now handle structural steel projects from inception to completion, providing The Family of Steel with a solid foundation for our future.
