Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. **A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and MCCP Board Rules & Regulations**

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason thisclassification exists is to perform skilled work in the operation of trucks andrelated automotive equipment. �Employeesare responsible for the operation of over the road trucks with a GVW rating of26,001 pounds or greater and the operation of related off-road equipment usedin the maintenance of County gravel roads. The County Road Equipment OperatorII is distinguished from the County Road Equipment Operator I class in that anincumbent operates a dump truck in which the work requires considerable skillin manipulating the heavy motor equipment and constant attention to safety ofoperation in order to prevent accidents; and distinguished from the County RoadEquipment Operator III in that the incumbent does not operate heavyconstruction equipment.� The major workresponsibilities may include:� drivingand operating a 2-ton and tandem axle dump truck with a GVW rating of 26,001pounds or greater; servicing and performing basic preventive maintenance checkson trucks and related automotive equipment; performing manual� work as required; maintaining records of fueland material usage and maintenance work performed on equipment; and operating a1-ton and a �ton pick up truck andother� equipment such as� a backhoe, sheeps foot roller, smoothdrum� roller and tractor.� Work is performed under the generalsupervision of a District Maintenance Superintendent who gives assignments tothe employee and frequently inspects the work.However, employees ordinarily determine work methods and work withoutimmediate supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

Six months of experience in theoperation of 2-ton, tandem dump trucks and/or other heavy equipment limited tomotor graders, front end loaders, and excavators.� Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’sLicense - Class B with air brakes.NOTE:��Qualifying education, training and experience that provide therequisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.�
