JOB SUMMARY:
Heavy Steel Fabrication Company is now seeking a NDT Level II QA Inspector to join our team!

In business since 1962, Metal Trades, Inc. (MTI) is a highly capable heavy steel fabricator and shipyard located approximately 18 miles south of Charleston, South Carolina.

Heavy Steel Fabrication * Heavy Steel Components as an OEM supplier * Barge & Vessel Construction * Power Transformer Tanks * Ship Repair * Large Pressure Vessels and Tanks Built to Section VIII of the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code.

NDT Level II QA Inspector:
Intermediate skill level in all QA duties. Must be qualified to setup, calibrate equipment, and to interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards and specifications. A Level II shall be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the inspection techniques for which qualified and shall exercise assigned responsibility for on the job training and the preparation of written instructions, and to organize and report the results of Non-destructive Tests. Must have all appropriate hours and training as recommended in ASNT SNT-TC-1A Recommended Practice for Level II inspection in the following disciplines: VT, MT, PT, and UT-Shear-wave. Performs inspections, checks, and tests to ensure quality control in the manufacturing of Commercial Heavy Steel and Marine products. Must be knowledgeable with using using measuring tools such as ruler, caliper, gauges or micrometers. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience, and judgment, to plan/accomplish goals of assigned tasks Performs a variety of tasks in support of the company Quality Program. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Supervision: Works under general supervision. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager.
Education: May require a high school diploma or equivalent and 2– 4 years of related experience. Engineering Degree, 2-4 years may be substituted for related experience.
Working hours are Monday thru Thursday 6:00AM to 4:30PM. Must be able to work OT if needed. Metal Trades offers a very competitive benefit package.
