Job Description
Phlebotomist
This position requires communication skills and an employee with a pleasant personality. Multi-tasking is very important in this position. The employee must have clinical training in order to provide services to patient and assist a Physician/Provider with the care of patients.
DUTIES:
- Candidate must be available for hours that fall outside of normal business hours.
- Candidate must have reliable transportation.
- Perform routine laboratory test: chemistries, hematology, urinalysis, and finger sticks
- Candidate must show proficiency with venipunctures to obtain blood samples from patients.
- Candidate must be organized with the screening processes.
- Perform laboratory quality control when required
- Assure all laboratory documentation is correctly ordered with correct billable diagnosis.
- Perform vital signs- BP, Pulse, Respiration, Temperature, Height and Weight
- Draw blood when as ordered
- Perform test when ordered such as: IM/SQ Injections, Urinalysis, CBC, PT, HgBA1C, Stat Chemistries, Sed Rate, H.Pylori, Strep Swab, Flu Swab, etc.
- Obtain consent forms for procedures when necessary.
- Follow through with all paperwork throughout the day, completing tasks necessary depending upon the issue
- Completing lab requisitions and assuring test are drawn in the correct tube.
- Ensure all paperwork has been collected and completed correctly to ensure no issues with insurance billing and payment processing.
- Follow all office policies.
This position is part of a team. There may be times when this employee will have to assist with other clinical duties. The position will work under the supervision of the Mackey Family Practice Team.
