Job description
Closing Teacher - Infants, Toddlers, and/or Preschool
Full- and Part-Time Positions Available ( 9-6 with hour break, 1pm-6pm, 2pm-6pm, or 3pm-6pm)

Our teachers and caregivers are an integral part of our team and work together as a cohesive group to maintain the mission, vision and values of Little Explorers Early Learning Academy. Our closing teachers work with the rest of the team to engage and interact with the children throughout the day, provide the highest quality of care and education to all our Little Explorers children, promote independence and self-efficacy, maintain a safe and clean facility, participate in diaper changing and potty-training, help maintain child records, and communicate clearly and openly with parents at pick-up time.
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the health & safety of all children at all times
  • Assist Director in the implementation of curriculum for the classroom.
  • Plan out daily developmentally appropriate afternoon activities to support learning goals
  • Provide a well rounded and developmentally appropriate early childhood education to all children in the classroom
  • Supervise children at all times, make sure each child is receiving adequate care, and make sure each child is making progress in learning
  • Post updates, notes, and pictures to our Brightwheel parent communication app
  • Communicate and build trust with parents as they pick up their children
  • Maintain records of children’s attendance and supervision throughout the day
  • Work with classroom teaching team to help maintain a record of student work and classroom observations in portfolio form
  • Take children outside daily, weather permitting
  • Complete closing checklist daily at the end of your shift
  • Work with the classroom teaching team to provide insights for developmental assessments tri-annually
  • Ensure the classroom is a safe, clean, positive learning environment
  • Create and maintain a classroom environment that allows for children to be safe, happy, and healthy
Requirements:
  • 18 years of age or older (exceptions may be made for applicants approaching their 18th birthday)
  • Good character and integrity
  • A love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day
  • A positive attitude and growth mindset
  • Sufficient knowledge, intelligence, stability, energy, and maturity to work in a childcare setting
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to provide the consistency that young children so very much need
  • Able to adjust schedules accordingly to adapt to the changing needs of the center
  • CPR / First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Speak, read, and write fluently in English
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the position, including the ability to kneel, stoop, sit on the floor, stand for a long time, work indoors and outdoors, and demonstrate and engage in activities like jumping, dancing, walking, running, and lifting at least 40 pounds
Strongly Preferred:
  • Formal Training in Early Childhood or Education Related Program
  • College Degree, Teacher Certification and/or CDA
  • Relevant Experience
