Kershaw County, SC is Hiring an Appraiser Near Camden, SC

Schedule: 8:30am – 5:00pm; Monday – Friday

Location: Kershaw County Government Center, Camden, SC

Qualifications: Must have an Associate Degree with a combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Required to have and maintain a clear background check and pass a drug screening. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Must be dependable and prompt. A Mass Appraiser or Certified Residential Appraiser preferred. Will train and license the right candidate.

Required knowledge & skills: Must be able to read tax maps and collect data. Position requires travel to remote parts of the county to inspect and appraise property. Position requires being able to tolerate different weather conditions and temperatures. Walking, standing, stooping, bending, climbing and lift up to 50 lbs. to perform daily office work.

Responsibilities: Under direct supervision of the Assessor in charge of appraising all classes of locally assessed real property (including mobile homes) within an assigned area of the county. Responsible for appraisals of single family, multi-family, commercial, resort, farm and all real property (including mobile or modular homes) for property assessment/taxation function. Operate a county vehicle and ability to locate property to measure and record the size of all taxable improvements. This information will then be keyed into our CAMA database. Review property transfers (via deeds & wills) daily and adjust valuations. Talk with taxpayers about the valuation process of their property and approve Legal Residence and Agriculture Use applications. Attend state-mandated annual appraisal schools in order to satisfy continuing educational requirements of the law, the profession, and the position. Performs other related duties as required.
