Harrell Remodeling is Hiring a CAD Specialist with Chief Architect Experience Near Mountain View, CA

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled CAD Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with various design software and a strong understanding of drafting principles. *Requires Chief Architect Software experience.*

Major Goal:

The CAD Specialist is responsible for efficiently producing CAD working drawings, which are an accurate and complete representation of the scope of work. The CAD Specialist coordinates with all involved parties (Designer, Consultants, Design-Build Specifiers, Production) in order to provide all information (CAD drawings, engineering, Title 24, specifications) required for buildable designs.

Experience/Requirements:

Has an AS Degree or equivalent in Architectural Drafting and four years experience with Chief Architect, AutoCAD programs, experience with drawings required for residential remodeling and a working knowledge of building codes.

Job Duties:

  • Meet with designer at client’s home to understand scope of work.
  • Gather information for the project: complete the checklists, take photos, take field measurements, research codes and restrictions.
  • Work with designer to develop a base set of drawings for the existing conditions and the proposed design.
  • Create drawings that are appropriate for each stage of design development (schematic design, design development, permit drawings and production set).
  • Verify the drawings for accuracy, completeness and compliance with National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) standards and Harrell CAD standards.
  • Develop drawings that are “buildable” (building code compliant and structurally feasible).
  • Incorporate notes, revisions or additional drawings as needed by estimating department, production or city for permit submittal.
  • Coordinate with estimating/specifying department to assure consistency between drawings and specifications.
  • Run prints, scans and copies (or send out for prints) on an as-needed basis.
  • Prepare drawings (with Harrell copyright wet-stamp) for designer’s signature and date.
  • Respond in a timely manner to Production’s and Designer’s request for drawings with the understanding that projects in Production take priority over projects in Design.
  • Coordinate with Design Manager regarding workflow through the Design Department and make recommendations regarding the need for outsourced CAD services as required to meet deadlines.
  • Assist designer creating architectural details to describe their designs and coordinate with the CMS (Custom Materials Spreadsheet) to ensure consistency in drawings and details.
  • Coordinate out-sourced CAD and engineering services (prepare initial information package, prepare or revise CAD details, review incoming CAD, check CAD against red-marked drawings).
  • Manage drawing templates to reflect a consistent Harrell drawing format.
  • Develop renderings throughout the process to assist client and Harrell team in visualizing their project.
  • Maintain current “shared” drawing libraries (symbols, blocks, details, drawings, etc) to streamline the production of accurate and efficient drawings.
  • With the assistance from Sales/Designers and estimators/specifiers, maintain and organize technical files, and update samples quarterly.
  • Help acquire building permits, as needed.
  • Participate in Sales meetings and All-Staff meetings.
  • Ensure that all timesheets, reimbursable expenses and Performance Reviews are submitted to the office within established time frames.
  • Participate in marketing events as requested by the Design Manager.
