The Role

The Finance Manager is primarily responsible for providing financial and analytical support to help drive operational success in nearly every aspect the Division’s operations including: sales, land, construction, purchasing, warranty and escrow.

This position also organizes detailed key performance indicators and financial performance analysis through income statement, balance sheet, and cashflow statement.

Adhere to and support the Company's Vision, Mission, and Core Values, work on other special projects involving aspects of the position listed below:

  • Enforcing accounting processes, systems and controls, including documentation of policies, procedures and controls;
  • Analyzing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements; conducting analysis comparing those statements to forecasted results;
  • Ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) statutory reporting requirements and Corporate control policies;
  • Working with Management to prepare, manage and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual overhead budget for Corporate, Divisions, and Subdivisions;
  • Assisting with financial analysis for Senior Management, Board of Directors, and investors;
  • Advising Leadership team on customer contract terms, revenue recognition policies, expense management, and other financial matters relevant from an accounting and tax perspective;
  • Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of recorded transactions;
  • Regularly performing internal audit procedures to ensure procedural compliance, identify and correct deficiences;
  • Creating & reviewing KPI and Financial Reporting for Corporate & Division leadership;
  • Developing and maintaining 3-year strategic plan, annual plan, and regular forecast updates;
  • Assisting in the creation and review of submissions to Asset Management Committee;
  • Preparing and reviewing operating budgets with Division and Department leadership;
  • Performing ad-hoc financial modeling & analysis;
  • Interfacing and working with the lenders of the Company to ensure they have required financial documentation and answer all questions;
  • Working with lenders and the Divisions to ensure that construction starts are ordered and financed in a timely and orderly fashion;
  • Ensuring lenders are supplied with required performance information;
  • Responsibility for all banking activities, must be executed in accordance with policies and procedures;
  • Ensuring that construction projects are funded timely and adequately;
  • Overseeing the creation and submission of an accurate, timely borrowing base;
  • Managing, mentoring, and training (and cross-training, where possible) the direct reports;
  • Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws;
  • Interviewing and hiring employees: planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems;
  • Creating and indirectly managing Division finance leadership and teams.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Required: Four plus years' relevant experience
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • Prior homebuilding experience preferred
