Responsibilities:
- Perform preliminary patient screenings, including taking medical history and documenting chief complaints
- Conduct visual acuity tests, tonometry, and other diagnostic tests as directed by the ophthalmologist
- Assist with minor surgical procedures, including preparing instruments and maintaining a sterile field
- Educate patients on proper eye care and contact lens usage
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records
- Coordinate patient appointments and manage patient flow within the clinic
- Assist with medical billing and coding as needed
Skills:
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems, such as Epic, to document patient information and retrieve medical records
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and ophthalmic procedures
- Experience working with pediatric patients is highly desirable
- Familiarity with vital signs measurement and interpretation
- Ability to maintain strict adherence to aseptic technique during clinical procedures
- Knowledge of medical billing processes and insurance verification
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
