Helen Hong DMD is Hiring a Dental Sterilization Technician Monday/Wednesday 7a -4p, Friday 830a-530p (one or more days ok) Near San Mateo, CA

We are a General Practice Dental office in San Mateo looking for a career minded Dental Sterilizer Technician to join our team. This position has potential for promotion and training/certification for dental assisting for the right candidate.

Dental Sterilizer Technician is responsible for the sterilization of all dental instruments used in dental procedures, as well as any instruments laid out for possible use. Dental sterilization technician will set up and break down dental armamentarium from operatories, maintain supplies and rooms, as needed. This position will also be cross trained to assist the front desk administrator and any clerical/charting duties .

Work schedule: Part-time ONLY

Monday 7am to 4pm

Wednesday 7am to 4pm

Friday 830am to 530pm

***Working one or more days ok but must be able to work the workday weekly and for the full hours listed. ***

Responsibilities Organizes trays, instruments and treatment room drawers at all times. Prepares dental units for Dentist, stock units and ensures that units are clean at all times. Maintaining the instruments and working areas in strict accordance with sterilization/ disinfection protocols. Sterilize all instruments and headpieces according to OSHA regulations. Preparing and arranging instruments for the sterilization process. Wear heavy-duty utility gloves, a face shield and protective coverings when handling contaminated instruments. Put away and organize dental instruments in operatories for re-use. Operate sterilization machines (Autoclaves) safely, without risking burns or personal injury. Ensure that office sterilization procedures are documented and posted at all times. Break down, clean and set up operatories as needed to assist the dental assistants. Cross-training in other dental support positions as necessary. Escort patients to treatment room, seat patients and have proper set-up for procedure ready as needed. Attend pre-patient staff meeting in the morning each day before starting shift. Comply with all OSHA, Dental Board policies. Oversee cleanliness of treatment room according to sterilization procedures. Disinfect treatment rooms according to OSHA regulations. Do daily hand piece and instruments inventory. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Prior work history in dental clinic or health-care environment preferred. Bilingual (Spanish /Mandarin/English) is a plus. Intermediate computer use experience, including MS Office/MS Outlook. Ability to multitask in a fast paced clinic environment. Ability to follow directions and have strong attention to detail. Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and written in English. Excellent interpersonal skills desired. Ability to work evening and weekends if required highly desired

Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
