Assistant Controller

Job Summary:

Greer Industries, Inc. is seeking an individual for its Morgantown accounting office. This individual’s primary duties will be as the Assistant Controller for Greer and Greer’s affiliated company, WV Newspaper Publishing Company. The Assistant Controller’s duties will include all facets of the accounting department, including financial reporting and analysis, month end closing and cash management.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Perform daily accounting processes including journal entries, account reconciliations and general ledger transactions.
• Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial information in accordance with GAAP
• Assist with the completion and preparation of monthly financial reports and annual audit
• Bank Reconciliations
• Maintain Fixed assets and depreciation schedule
• Performs the preparation and filing of Personal Property, Sales and Use tax and Real Estate tax filing.
• Consistent exercise of independent judgement and discretion in matters of significance.
• Oversees the physical inventory of each plant
• Review, approve and post monthly credit card transactions
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher – Accounting
• 5 years of experience in accounting with management experience
• CPA credentials are preferred but not required
