School Year (Seasonal) Part-Time | (Seasonal) Full-Time | $15-$16 hr
Location: Central-Denison Elementary | Star Center Elementary

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the School Age Child Care & Camp Director and/or Enrichment & Camp Coordinator, the Preschool Lead Teacher is responsible for the implementation of all classroom activities. This includes maintaining the physical appearance of the classroom to meet the YMCA standards. Will supervise and train teacher’s assistants to comply with the YMCA’s policies and philosophy of education.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Provide quality programming and serve as a role model to staff and participants.

· Supervise the children, classroom, and all activities.

· Share and discuss lesson plans with classroom team and supervise their performance as related to the curriculum and program philosophy.

· Make ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.

· Conduct parent conferences, and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers.

· Communicate with elementary school staff with professionalism and respect.

· Adhere to all Geneva Lakes Family YMCA disciplinary policies and communicate with children on a consistent basis regarding all expectations.

· Follow Geneva Lakes Family YMCA and the elementary school’s emergency procedures to ensure the safety of all children.

· Communicate with the Enrichment & Camp Coordinator and/or School Age Child Care and Camp Director regarding any emergency concerns or situations.

· Maintain a clean and well-organized work and program space at all times.

· Perform other duties as deemed necessary.

· Uphold and exemplify the policies and guidelines of the Geneva Lakes Family YMCA and the elementary school at all times.

· Ensure licensing compliance with Wisconsin DCF 252.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s Degree in Education or equivalent.

· Minimum of two years teaching experience in a group setting with preschool children preferred.

· Have a sincere interest and ability to comprehend the needs of children to develop positive outcomes.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Must complete four Praesidium Child Abuse Courses prior to start date.

· CPR certification within 60 days of hire.

· Completion of Abusive Head Trauma Prevention course.

· Must pass DCF FBI Fingerprint Background check prior to start date.
