General Summary:
Position is part-time. 25-29 hours per week.
Hours are 11:30am-5pm M-TH and 11:30am-4pm Friday's.
Not eligible for benefits. PTO hours will be given.
A non-exempt, clerical position responsible for answering and transferring phone calls in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner. May also be responsible for registering and making appointments for patients and other reception duties.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Promptly and professionally answers telephone calls. Routes calls appropriately to the proper staff member, offering voice mail, paging, or redirection of calls as needed.
Greet and register patients for office appointments while creating a friendly and welcoming environment.
Collect and verify demographic, insurance and guarantor information.
Collect co-payments and payments due on account.
Communicate as needed with physicians/clinicians and other staff about any patient concerns/issues.
Process release of information requests for patients, Attorneys, payments for submitted claims and for other health care associates as needed while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
Scanning external medical records as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Education: High school diploma.
Experience: Preferred 1-2 years of office experience in an appointment registration position, preferably in a medical practice setting.

Knowledge of medical practice protocols related to registering patients and terminology
Knowledge of manual/computerized scheduling systems
Knowledge of EPIC system, preferable
Knowledge of customer service principles and techniques

Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment with emphasis on computer hardware and software as well as telephone—computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, scanners, telephones, etc.
Work Environment: Medical office or reception area. Exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions related to clinic setting.
Mental/Physical Requirements: Mostly sedentary with some standing, walking, reaching.
