Garrett Container Systems is Hiring a Facility and Equipment Technician Near Amarillo, TX

Position Summary:

As a Facility and Equipment Technician, you will play a critical role in the start-up operation of our manufacturing facility In Amarillo, Texas. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing various types of equipment and machinery, and for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving equipment issues to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. Your attention to detail, technical expertise, and proactive approach to learn the Garrett Container Systems (GCS) products, services, and operational requirements will contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our manufacturing processes and revenue growth.

Essential Functions:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on manufacturing equipment according to established schedules to ensure optimal performance and longevity. This includes inspecting, cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts as necessary.

2. Troubleshooting and Repair: Quickly diagnose equipment malfunctions and mechanical issues using a variety of tools and techniques. Effectively troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to identify root causes and implement timely repairs.

3. Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans to minimize unplanned downtime and equipment failures. Conduct inspections, tests, and adjustments to identify potential issues before they escalate.

4. Equipment Calibration: Calibrate and adjust manufacturing equipment to maintain accuracy, consistency, and compliance with quality standards. Ensure that all equipment meets regulatory requirements and follows industry best practices.

5. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of equipment maintenance activities, including work orders, repair logs, and parts inventory. Generate reports to track equipment performance, maintenance schedules, and downtime statistics.

6. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance tasks to prevent accidents, injuries, and hazardous situations. Identify and address safety hazards in the manufacturing environment to maintain a safe and healthy workplace. Communicates to GCS leadership any potential or actual injury, unsafe act or condition, or failure of equipment.

7. Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments, including production, engineering, and quality assurance, to support manufacturing operations and address equipment-related issues. Communicate effectively with team members to share knowledge, coordinate maintenance activities, and prioritize tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance strongly preferred.

2-3 years experience as a maintenance technician or similar role in a manufacturing environment.

Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment.

Familiarity with preventive maintenance techniques, tools, and software systems.

Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency maintenance requests.

Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move heavy equipment and parts.

Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions, and subject to manufacturing related products smells and machinery noise levels.

Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
