Parent Partner (Haitian Creole speaking)

Reports to: Family Support Network Coordinator

Supervises: N/A

Status: Part time; Non-Exempt; 10-15 hours per week

Location: Allston-Brighton, Hyde Park, or Dorchester

Number of openings: 2-3 positions available

Organization Overview:

Family Nurturing Center of MA provides family strengthening, parenting education, and early childhood development programming in historically marginalized neighborhoods throughout the City of Boston, and training for family service providers across the Commonwealth. FNC’s 70-person team represents the communities we serve; 30% of us are graduates of an FNC program. Our approach is rooted in racial and social justice and we approach families with respect and nurturing joy.

Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the Family Support Network Coordinator, Parent Partners work in collaboration with Parent Partner teams to deliver early childhood development and family engagement activities, including but not limited to: Welcome Baby Home Visits; Ages and Stages Questionnaires; playgroups; diaper pantries and other distributions of essential goods; and parenting education programs, as assigned. This position will work primarily with newly-arrived Haitian families with young children, including those living in shelters.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

· Conduct outreach and intake to families within the assigned community to ensure robust participation in FNC programs.

· Identify resources and referrals mechanisms for families with young children to ensure their connection to appropriate services in the community.

· Conduct Welcome Baby Home visits, both in-person and virtually, as needed.

· Facilitate/co-facilitate Parent-Child and Parent-Baby playgroups as assigned.

· Attend ASQ trainings and implement ASQ/ASQ-SE screenings; coordinate follow-ups with families.

· Support the planning and implementation of parenting education programs (Nurturing Programs, Breakthrough Parenting, Mind Matters, etc.) as assigned.

· Support the planning and implementation of community events and celebrations to engage families with young children.

· Participate in diaper pantry activities, holiday gift drives, and distribution of other essential needs for families as assigned.

· Attend professional development activities and trainings as assigned.

· Support reporting by entering all relevant data in Salesforce and DRIVE databases in a timely manner.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

· Prior experience with and passion for early childhood development, professional and/or personal.

· Demonstrated interest in community and family engagement.

· Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the needs of families raising young children in Boston.

· Maturity in handling sensitive information, including confidential client data.

· Strong team-player; able to work effectively across a wide range of stakeholders.

· Able to commit to a set schedule and work on-site for the majority of working hours; remote work when needed will be approved on a case-by-case basis

· Comfortable with and/or able to learn IT systems including Outlook, Microsoft, Salesforce, etc.

· Fluency in Haitian Creole is essential for this position.
