Job Description

Controls contractor seeking an Apprentice Electrician for its Lincoln/Kearney Location. Working under the direct supervision of another Journeyman Electrician or Installation Supervisor, it is intended that this person will learn all aspects of the electrical trade whereby at some point in the future, he or she will be capable of becoming a licensed Journeyman Electrician The training and development of this person consist of learning electrical theory, state and local electrical codes, safety, how to read blueprints, field device layout, and how to install cable and raceway.

Typical Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Learn all aspects of electrical construction materials and control equipment that make up the field installation part of a building control system.
  • Complete the commissioning and troubleshooting of the control system with the assistance of another Journeyman Electrician or Field Systems Tech.
  • Install control systems utilizing job mechanical/electrical plans and hardware layout drawings. Special emphasis placed on the quality and cost effective installation of the control system.
  • Review the project technical requirements with other trade subcontractors as needed.
  • Develop skills in the installation of cable, wire and raceway, mounting control devices, actuators and controllers…etc. All critical components to the operation of the building control system.
  • Assisting in the completion of the commissioning and troubleshooting of the control systemwith the assistance of another Journeyman Electrician or Field Systems Tech.
  • Communicate with the Installation Supervisor to plan manpower requirements andscheduling of materials to the job site.
  • Promote safety on the jobsite in connection with the installation and service work.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Ability to sufficiently communicate with individuals at all levels within the company and with various business contacts outside of the company in an articulate, professional manner.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid Nebraska State driver license.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends/flexible schedules.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work off of Aerial Lifts or Ladders.
  • Professional attitude and appearance with a strong work ethic.
  • Interact appropriately with co-workers and supervisors in a professional manner that contributes positively to the team environment.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly.
  • Willing to work all shifts including holidays and weekends when demanded by the job.

Essential Functions:

  • Be able to lift and carry ladders, drawings, equipment and materials, etc.
  • Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Be able to spend significant time standing and walking on construction sites.
  • Be able to climb several flights of stair or ladders throughout a typical day on a construction site.
  • Maintain a satisfactory driving record which, per Engineered Controls vehicle policy, allows the individual to drive a company vehicle.
  • Be physically able to kneel, stoop and crawl.
  • Be willing to actively participate in the company wide Health and Safety plan.
