Envera is a legal entity of Lesaffre located in West Chester, Pennsylvania, US. Envera manufactures bacteria solutions for Lesaffre BUs and different market segments such as wastewater treatment, bioremediation, cleaning solutions and many other areas where bacteria can play a key role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned depending upon operational needs.

  • Develop Quality Control Plans for production and manufacturing unit operations,
  • Monitor and manage traceability of raw material quality and finished goods.
  • Responsible for updating facilities, policies, systems and documentation to meet regulations set by federal, state, and local authorities, as well as all applicable certifying bodies.
  • Represent the company to external stakeholders such as certifiers, customers and authorities.
  • Implementing and renewing the certifications required by customers.
  • Provide leadership for developing and directing Quality Assurance, Inspection, Laboratory and Quality improvement by scheduling and recording regular internal audits
  • Implementation of new SOP for Quality control and identify, write, and revise standard operating procedures, work instructions, and laboratory policies, procedures and standard practices. Promote company-wide quality awareness and compliance
  • Manage the review and approval of complaints, non-conformances and recommend corrective and preventative actions. Lead Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action of nonconforming product (internally and externally)
  • Ensure effective management of customer escalations, and timely and effective communication and resolution of issues that help drive customer satisfaction.
  • Effectively interact with Fermentation, Production, Maintenance teams to establish best practices, process control, discipline and formulation of quality planning
  • Ensure quality of finished goods based on legal and certification regulations, as well as customer needs.
  • To ensure the conduct and recording of environmental analyses, storage suitability, and other controls and analyses specified in the quality control plan during certain stages of production, storage, and shipment operations. To provide information and guidance to relevant departments regarding the results of these analyses.
  • Manage and monitor safety KPI for employee health and safety.
  • Implement safety training programs and initiatives for workplace safety.
  • Ensure that the Company is in compliance and adheres to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines
  • Conducts risk assessment and enforces preventative measures
  • Creates and implements safety plans while ensuring that they are followed daily
  • Maintains documentation of the company's safety procedures, accidents, and related events

Interactions:

  • Directly reporting to Envera General Manager
  • Functionally reporting to Lesaffre Group Safety (Milwaukee and France)
  • On-site managers and personnel
  • Customer, supplier, consultants, Professional service providers

Education and/or Experience

  • Master of Science or Bachelor’s in microbiology, biotechnology, Quality management, Food science or a relevant degree program.
  • Extensive experience in quality control operations in the Food, Feed manufacturing industry is required
  • 10 years of quality experience with a minimum of 5 years of management experience
  • Experience in manufacturing of probiotics is ideal
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and tools
  • Experience with HACCP, cGMP, BRS GFSI, FAMI-QS and/or FDA requirements.
  • Experience with regulatory, customer, and certifying inspections and audits.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises a team of quality technicians and the Quality and Safety Specialist. This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Other responsibilities of this position also include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning and directing work assignments, appraising work performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Environmental, Safety, Quality, and Legal Requirements: Understand and follow all environmental, safety, quality, and legal regulations for the area in which they work.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to render occasionally complex regulations and certification requirements understandable to laypeople.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to accurately count multiple configurations of inventoried products and raw materials. Familiarity with exponential math.

Computer Skills: To perform this job to a valued degree of success, an individual should have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft office tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. 

Reasoning Ability: Must have strong troubleshooting skills. Must use common sense and solid judgment when making decisions.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Current HACCP Certification from a recognized body such as the International HACCP Alliance or an accredited university.
  • Current PCQI Certification through FSPCA recognized organization.
  • Certification as an internal auditor recognized by a GFSI organization (BRC preferred).
