Our center is looking for EEC certified daycare teachers with a positive attitude, and an understanding of child development. It is important that the candidate have professionalism, and the ability to work well with others.

The individual for this position will have the responsibility for planning and managing the daily activities of the classroom. Good communication skills and the ability to effectively share information with care givers, other staff, and Director, concerning program operations and the individual needs of the children and families we serve are a must.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Demonstrate professional attitudes toward Days of Discovery Policies, confidentiality and relationships with other staff, parents, and volunteers.
• Demonstrate knowledge and implement Days of Discovery Policies, and Early Education and Care (EEC) Regulations.
• Maintain an updated file on the children within assigned groups and insure that all classroom folders are completed and secured.
• Responsible for developing weekly lesson plans.
• Responsible for completing a Development Assessment, Individual Plan and ongoing assessment of children in the classroom.
• Responsible for completion of inventory of classroom supplies, when requested and submission of request for equipment and materials to the appropriate person.
• Responsible for referrals and follow up to assist families.
• Identify, locate and use appropriate instructional resource materials.
• Insure constant communications between classroom staff and parent is ongoing and documented.
• Continue First Aid and CPR certification
• Report all cases of illness, accident, suspected child abuse, and institutional abuse according to the Days of Discovery Policies and Procedures.
• Consult with the Director on a regular basis concerning: Progress of classroom activities.Needs of individual children and families.EHS (Early Head Start) activities.
• Make certain classroom is safe and hazard free according to Early Education and care Services Regulations, Early Head Start performance standards and Developmentally Appropriate Practices.
• Supervise the activities for classroom volunteers, substitutes. Provide proper guidance and direction to the learning environment according to Days of Discovery Policies.
• Develop, post, and implement a daily classroom schedule.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
• Keep ongoing track of workshop and training hours according to EEC guidelines.
• Responsible for maintaining your physical and immunizations records.
• Responsible for maintaining attendance records.
• Work cooperatively with Director, teaching staff, parents and children through open communication.
• Responsible for coordinating occasional preparations, cooking, and serving of meals for children. Also for eating "family style" and clean up.
• Respond to classroom related emergencies and issues requiring immediate attention.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.50 - $18.50 per hour
