SUMMER CAMP - RECREATION LEADER I I

PURPOSE: This position is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for staff, volunteers, and campers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists Recreation Coordinator and Recreation Specialist in planning and implementing curriculum for camp’s daily on-site activities including games, crafts, and snacks.
• Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and participants.
• Helps guide Leaders in Training (L.I.T.) assigned to their group
• Administer first aid.
• Maintain all camp equipment and supplies utilized in activities.
• Submit all paperwork and forms in a timely manner.
• Responsible for keeping Recreation Coordinator and Camp Specialist informed daily regarding the facility, staff, and campers.
• Responsible for escorting participants on field trips and maintaining a safe atmosphere and ensures risk and safety management is carried out for all aspects of camp.
• Knows, understands, and enforces all rules and regulations of the Olivette Parks and Recreations Department, the City of Olivette and any Summer Camp rules, policies and guidelines.

REPORTS TO: Summer Camp Recreation Specialist and Recreation Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be at 18 years of age by May 1, 2024.
• Must have a minimum of two (2) years of leadership experience in a camp, classroom or coaching setting.
• Must have knowledge and ability to run games, sports, and other outdoor activities.
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively with groups of children, adults, and peers.
• Must be available for all 8 weeks of camp and training. Training: 6/3 - 6/7, Camp : 6/10 - 8/2.
• Must have a flexible schedule.
• Must pass a background check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have the ability to lift and carry thirty (30) pounds, ability to push or pull up to 50 pounds, ability to bend, squat, kneel, reach from floor level to six (6) feet in height, hold and grip objects.SALARY: Starting at $13.20 (based on years of service).
