About CIVICA Colorado:
CIVICA Colorado is a College and Career Academy charter school which opened in August 2021 in Milliken, Colorado. We are authorized by the Weld RE-5J school District. We expect to have 200 students 6th-10th grade, growing each year through 12th grade. Come join our amazing charter school team doing right by students!
The Johnstown-Milliken area is still an affordable place to rent or buy a first-time home!
CIVICA is a replication of a high-quality charter school in Miami, Florida called COHEA. Visit COHEA on the web to learn more about their school model and extraordinary success in closing achievement gaps in reading and math.
Because we are a replication school, the curriculum is already identified and will be provided to teachers along with ample professional development with one-on-one mentoring with partner teachers in Miami, and also from a second replication school also opening in August in Las Vegas.
The curriculum includes SpringBoard (from College Board) reading and math, Pearson:Elevate for science, and McGraw-Hill social studies. We will use iReady as our baseline and ongoing reading and math assessment and intervention. All core subjects teach from the same publisher series from grades 6 and up. That allows core teachers to have just one digital platform for all of their grade-level classes.
